Re: TF decisions...

Sounds like a good idea Sergi :) Are you planning to take it completely apart and rebuild from scratch? If so, might be the ideal time to take it to the paint shop and get it painted inside and out. I don't know about you, but I am a bit OCD about things like this and much prefer all the internal pa...

Re: Mgf donor car: building an MG Allegro VVC!

The 6" 800lb springs have I bought for the princely sum for £20 including postage, they are new old stock eibach from an Ebay seller, worth a try for that money I think. To be honest 600lb does feel about right but I'd imagined the Protechs bottoming out with only having a limited amount of tr...

Re: Mgf donor car: building an MG Allegro VVC!

I think you're both right: I imagine a little understeery-action can be anticipated... but you have to start somewhere and fine-tune! On that note, how much to the springs cost? I have protecs and the X-power springs (thanks Ed :)) - which I am hopeful will be about right for the 'Shed. But I could ...

Re: Mgf donor car: building an MG Allegro VVC!

The cradle will probably help a lot - and besides which, this is a track car not a rally stage star, so vertical movements should be reasonably limited?

Mind you - anything with motorsport pretension is best over-engineered, so belts and braces? :)

Re: Mgf donor car: building an MG Allegro VVC!

Will do. I need to drop Dave a line to see when I need to start pulling that engine into parts. His website is http://www.dvapower.com Power claims are generally on the pessimistic side of what is typically achieved ;) PS Having watched Project Binky on YouTube, just wondering whether you also need ...

Re: TF Race Car Build

That is looking good! I guess you don't need wheel arch extensions, but it would go with the "look" :)

Re: Mgf donor car: building an MG Allegro VVC!

It's there ready to rebuild Ed. I need to have a chat with Dave Andrews regarding the head porting though - and I'd also like to score a set of VHPD throttle bodies... :)

Love it! :thumbsu:

Gives me an incentive to convert the Shed over to TF suspension. I have all the parts, just need the time (usual story sadly )

Re: MGF Trophy rebuild

Not a huge fan of the "Swedish" wheels - the original Trophy items are so much nicer IMO. But love the work going on here! I need to treat N7 to a similar rebuild. Sadly this needs a huge amount of space and time to do properly - two commodities I sadly don't have. Are Prestige restoring ...

Re: HT Leads

The old leads must have been well past their best then - so good move with the replacement :) :thumbsu: The original HT cover screws were cross-head Philips. They usually come out easily in my experience - so I guess no one had had the cover off in a very long time by the sounds of things. I wonder ...

Which car is the MEMS3 ECU from? Connect up a diagnostic reader and see what the engine bay temperature is doing... Might be bad earth somewhere?

Ideally you need a diagnostic reader - it certainly makes this sort of thing a lot easier! Shame you're not closer... :(

Re: How to check MEMS 1.9 Map sensor

Maybe apply a vacuum to the hose with the engine running, it should result in a change of idle speed...?
