Open cone is the way to go for shear induction noise magic! But perhaps not the best for power... lol

Re: Hood & frame cross compatibility

Just to confirm: yes, you can fit any hood frame to any car. I have had Mk2 hood frames on my early Mk1 MGF for around 20 years...

I am getting old...

Re: Car unsettled over bumps

Odd handling can appear very quickly and even at low speeds with mismatched tyres. It is certainly worth replacing all four.

Steve, I agree - worn rear wheel bearings can also cause untoward handling - and MGF/TF bearings don't seem to make noise when they fail (no idea why not!)

Re: Are there any suppliers left?

First off, welcome to the forum! Secondly, sorry to hear that the bushes are too hard Evan. Which sets of bushes are you looking for? The whole car set? Yes, Rimmers is an X-Parts retailer, so OE bushes can be had from them. They won't be in a kit though: you'll have to order each bush individually.

The eBay car has a rather strong asking price on it - no idea if the market will support that or not!?!

Re: An issue with my early VVC

First off, welcome to the forum! Where in the US are you based? :) I am assuming that in your ownership, the MG previously ran and drove just fine and that the cam belts have all been replaced within the service schedule (generally around 5 years/60k miles). Fortunately, I do not think that this is ...

Re: Hard top leaking on MGTF

Just echoing everyone's comments here, especially Jerry's: getting both the hard top and soft top to seal perfectly is a swine of a job, and they were a pain to get right, even when new... but with 20 year old rubber seals, things are just harder now (no pun intended!)

Re: LED Compatible Flasher Relay

The faster flash likely reflects the lower electrical load on the circuit - I'd imagine that higher-rated ballast relays might do the trick? Note that I am no expert, but there is bound to be information on this on the web... Quick search reveals https://spiyda.com/turn-signal-load-equaliser-ballast...

Re: Rear brake line replacement tips please

This thread might be helpful: https://www.mgfregister.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=25579&p=201117 I need to do the same repairs on my old '95 MGF - it basically needs everything aft of the front bulkhead replacing. It should not be too difficult, but I foresee removing the unions from the rear T-ju...

Re: Car unsettled over bumps

I'm with Rob - have a thought about changing the rear tyres (or replacing all four at the same time): squirrely handing often results from mismatched front/ rear tyres on mid-engined cars.

Re: New Battery - FLAT

If you could start and then drive the car only for the battery to later discharge itself points very strongly towards a charging fault. The Bosch alternators on the later TF are a weak point (the earlier Marelli Magnetti alternators are far more robust), but that would not be the place I'd start hav...

Re: wiring up TF instrument cluster to check mileage

Quite right: the instrument cluster on the MGF/TF is relatively "dumb" in this regard!

I'd have to look at the wiring diagrams to see how to power the dash module and specifically the speedo - lots of wiring diagrams on line: should not be too hard to work out :)

Re: Exhaust downpipe

Any step in the exhaust outflow will cause turbulent flow and limit exhaust extraction (probably multiple caveats to that statement, but you get the drift). I'd check the alignment of the two pipe holes in the flange to the gasket - assuming both align perfectly (i.e. no obvious intrusion within the...
