Re: Rust in(to) pieces... a cautionary tale of a 17 year old
I'd advise caution with gassless mig. I found it to be a pain, didnt penetrate as well and smokey as hell.the spatter is a pain in the arris too. If you have somewhere inside to weld use gas. I use an argon mix but co2 is just as good. I had no mig welding skills to speak of to begin with and after ...

Re: Will using higher RON or Super Unleaded fuel help my car
I've always bunged a tankful of higher RON through all my cars every couple of months if I'm at the pumps and feeling flush. No reason I can give, just seems the thing to do. Cleaners and additives and what not.
How's that for technical. Lol.

Yup I was lucky. I'd worked with the bloke for 10 years and I trust him completely. We both have a lot of expensive gear in there and we both know where each other lives. Lol...... Wouldn't lend him my car keys mind, I've seen the way he drives..

Re: Will I ever learn
I go halves on an industrial unit with a mate that has secure parking or I'd never have the space for 'the fleet' as the misses calls it. We split the rent down the middle and have sheeted it into two halves. Im welding my midget in a rotisserie at the moment in my half with all the bits needed to f...

Re: What on Earth is the matter?
What really annoys me, is even though I've had to put right a few niggly faults in the last couple of weeks because of abuse by the previous owner, I still haven't had to call out Green Flag. It feels like I'm not really getting my money's worth from roadside assistance when despite faults that woul...

http://www.flickr.com/photos/vinyljunkie72/8376832807/ ...well there's yer problem....looks like a previous owner was a bit too violent trying to open the cap and completely ripped the reservoir off its mountings. fit a new one, gunson bleed and its smooth as smooth can be. Doesn't even crun...

Re: driving mgf f tf in snow
Not a big fan of k-seal myself. I've used it on my Jeep when I had a small water leak because the engine is huge and ,rather than tearing it down, I'd heard good things and thought for a tenner, what the hell? It worked for a week or so then started to leak again. The problem was the water pump so I...

Re: Heavy gear selection
Hmm, sounds interesting. I think for the sake of £20 I'll swap the master cylinder out just to eliminate the clutch hydraulics completely then get ted on the ramps and look at the state of the gear cables anyway. If nothing else they'll probably need a good clean and lubricate then go from there. Th...

Re: Heavy gear selection
Nope and nope, the bite is still in the top 3/4 and I've been no where near the cables, although after ruling out the master cylinder they're next on my list to have a look at. Is that the back rose?

Heavy gear selection
So anyway, my slave cylinder went the other day, so I replaced the rubbers and bled the system, seems like it did the trick and the pushrod has plenty of travel now. only problem is, although the gears go in smoothly without crunching, its a bit of a push to get them in. I did the old trick of drivi...

Re: Running a bit cool
Also if you haven't, the sensor is only a tenner and takes 10mins to change. Has to be worth a punt before you tackle the PITA that is the thermostat.

Re: Running a bit cool
Just a quick question, I know you said you've changed your temp gauge sensor (black one) but did you change your engine coolant sensor as well? I had the same kinda problem and changed both as the black one is just for the gauge reading, the important one is the brown one next to it which tells the ...

Re: Running too cool?? ( that makes a change...)
Hmm thats good future info to have. Thanks. Everything has settled down now and I took ted on a good 'twisty turney-up and down through the box' run in the countryside on Friday whilst we had the good weather and its all looking good so far. No water loss and the sensors seem to have settled once ev...
