Re: how to clean cooling sytem after HGF?
Hi Dave, If all else fails, and after two head gasket replacements I've tried all the dishwasher tablets and even tho' they work to a degree, this is THE ONLY stuff that actually removes it believe me. http://www.powerenhancer.co.uk/shop-by-category/other-treatments/coolant-system/bardahl-radiator-o...

Re: Engine Oil 4U
That's a great price on offer for semi synthetic, it is only 4 litres tho'. Looking at the rest of the oils in the 10W/40 range it is a lot cheaper where as the good stuff is £30 or £40 for 4 ltrs. By the way the closest to the Halford's stuff is Comma's S/Synthetic at £14.99 for 5 litres and the P&...

Engine Oil 4U
Hi Guys & Gals, For those of us carrying out our own servicing, virtually all of us then, I don't know if you are aware of this site but check it out as a price comparison. I've just bought some for "madams" Peugeot 2008 and I got 10 ltrs for the price of 5 ltrs and a fuel injector cleaner thrown in...

Re: Toyo tyres again
You dead right it will. I was gutted when I had 2 new Toyo's Proxies fitted to the rear,of Malaysian manufacture and found that the rear wanted to visit the nearby hedge whenever I turned left or right at anything above 50mph especially as the fronts are Japanese Manufacture and still have 5 mm of t...

Re: Whirring sound when unlocking 'F'
Hi Dave Are you sure its coming from the rear? Try locking a door with it open, for instance, with the passenger door open press down the lock button and hold it down with light pressure and see if you can hear the door locking making the familiar rat a tat tat noise. If not try the drivers door. If...

Intermittent Alarm Issue
Quite a few weeks ago, and I mean quite a few weeks ago, early January in fact, the "F" for no apparent reason suddenly decided to throw a wobbly and set its alarm off. As with all these things it went off in the early hours of the morning. Fortunately living on the edge of Bodmin Moor the only thin...

Re: MGTF Toyo tyre problems
Well Done Anthony Unfortunately I've replaced the half worn fronts with "New Toyo's" and lo and behold handling back to normal. I suppose it'll be too much to expect them to last any longer, here's hoping. I know Kasper wondered whether it might be an issue with the TF rather than the F and from lot...

It should settle down within an hour.
How far did you drive it?
Normally a quick drive round the block stick the brakes on a couple of times back home and it should all be PK

Re: MGTF Toyo tyre problems
Guys, I know what you are saying about these Toyo's from different manufacturing plants. 2 yrs ago I put 4 new Toyo's on when I bought the car and after 35k miles I've gone thro' three sets of tyres on the rear, all different manufacturers, and the front Toyo's (original pair) still have 3/4 mm of t...

Hi Stuart,
I have the Lo-Larm II fitted to mine, Alan supplied the LED which flashes and I used one of the spare warning lights in the dash as well as the buzzer and works well.

Re: Fuel Additives
I don't know about a fuel additive helping to reduce the emissions to pass the MOT. The only thing that I use on a yearly basis is the BG44K fuel cleaner which has always given excellent results http://www.powerenhancer.co.uk/product.php/226/bg-44k-injector-cleaner--fuel-system-cleaner-and-carbon-re...

Re: Hello from 1997 MGF VVC Track car
Hi and welcome, I would suggest suspension height check as well to begin with. Wiper motor bearings are notorious and if the engine isn't at the front behind the spare wheel I would ask the last owner what he's done with it. Had a Dawes when I was young..ish and then sold it many many years ago .......

That's amazing Colin, and all credit to the Escort fan and your Dad for the trouble and effort they put in to letting Ken know. But what a set of circumstances. It goes to show that there are some nice people out there and no doubt being a petrol head he would appreciate the value of those tax discs...

Hi Plezier Many thanks for that I hadn't clocked that the cones were different. You learn something new everyday. Time to tale a look. I've had a quick look n Robs page I'm hoping from his photo that the difference is easy to spot in the flesh and can be done without dropping the spheres out. Once a...

Re: How Is It That My Front Tyres Last & The Rears...well
Hi Helsbyman, I hadn't noticed any difference but as I replaced my spheres with a full set of lo-mileage ones in very good condition 15k miles ago I'm hoping thats not the issue which would mean that both rear spheres are "weak". It might be worth checking. I'll get a couple of the kids in and a bag...

Re: How Is It That My Front Tyres Last & The Rears...well
Hi Guys, The Toyo's that wore out at 11.5k miles were obviously directional so I couldn't blame that. The replacements the GT Radials which don't seem to be fairing much better are also directional and all pointing the same way. But good shout on that. Ref wear pattern, now this is the annoying thin...
