Re: Glass Rear Screen & HRW connections
Once you've got the switch the rest of the wiring and relay should be pretty simple.
You could buy a kit but of you pick up a £1 relay from Maplin and a few bits and pieces should see it wired in for under £5.
Of course you could get a kit for simplicity.
Merry Christmas,
Andy

MGF Exhast Backbox - **SOLD**
Hi all, I have (purchased in error) a MGF backbox, it is used by was removed from a car pretty soon after purchase and sat in somebodies shed, it's about as clean as you'll find, ideal if you're building a concours car. As you can see from the pictures the black is still present in the exhaust exit ...

I believed reinforced tyres were for commercial vehicles?
Trust me, van tyres on a car are unpleasant.

Re: Can't Retract Hood on MGF
Cheers guys, I worked it out as I went back out again to have another pop, but you were all 100% correct.
I shall invest in some of those replacement straps after Christmas.
Thanks again,
Andy

Can't Retract Hood on MGF
Hi all, For the first time (for engine access) I've tried to retract the hood, however the hood jams when it gets to this point: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-sLV-Csivtuw/UMSUrzTeEHI/AAAAAAAAA50/mBxT0bUs9cU/s576/%255BUNSET%255D.jpg The rear screen is unzipped and laid in the parcel shelf, I ass...

Re: Newbie MGF Project Thread
As the car rolled down the driveway of its own accord, in one last ditch attempt for freedom, it suddenly dawned on the new owner that he'd been warned about that as a parting shot as he drove away in the car on collection; like all the useful things we forget on a daily basis. When you couple this ...

Re: Indicators
The above is very logical. I also agree that it could well be the case the "alarm unit" (not familiar with the British Leyland parlance yet) has its own flasher output. If both fuses have somehow simultaneously blown this needs further investigation. Flasher relays are reasonably universal, should f...

Re: Will using higher RON or Super Unleaded fuel help my car
Fuel system cleaners are a marketed add-on at dealer level. They are used as a KPI and most groups target staff to upsell them, they sell them for terrific profit, I doubt they're even recommended by manufacturers. Same with "air-con cleaners" have a cost of less than £1, easily retailed for £15. I'...

Re: Coolant level when cold.
Coolant will expand when it is approaches its gaseous state, remember that in a car cooling system it can approach temperatures higher than in atmospheric pressures as the cooling system is sealed*; coolant on a running engine can become super-heated and accordingly expand quite a bit. This is why y...

Re: fluid reservoir
Never noticed any difference between performance of the car and whether they use a hydraulic or a cable actuated clutch. I've owned many cars with cable actuated clutches (including a 800cc Panda) and some quite powerful cars with hydraulically actuated clutches. What is quite useful (in terms of fa...

Newbie MGF Project Thread
Before we begin, I write quite creative, occasionally meandering “blog” style car threads, please don’t be offended. They will occasionally contain bad language, adult themes , wandering diatribes against the vehicle manufacturer in question and overzealous use of punctuation as I see fit. Please do...
