Re: Urgent Engine number advice needed

Rob Bell wrote:The "P" engines that Nick mentions (P25/P26) are the late (post 2003) TF160 units. Before that, the 160 engines got the numbers N27/N28.
My car, built on 11/06/2003 (but not registered till 28/4/2004) has the P25 engine code, so these numbers were in use earlier than you suggest, Rob ...

Overwinter storage needed

I am planning to spend the Winter in France and possibly Spain, so I'm seeking somewhere to store my TF for around 4 months. Can anyone suggest a commercial storage facility in the South Manchester area? Or is there perhaps a member who could offer garage space in return for a supply of beer tokens?...

Peugeot Boxer mobile mechanic needed

Yes I know it's not an MG ...

But I'm struggling to find a reliable mobile mechanic to work on my 1999 motorhome, Peugeot Boxer based.

I'm near Macclesfield in Cheshire.

Can anyone recommend/suggest such a person?

Thanks :thumbsu:

Re: European Break down cover

Have you considered joining ADAC? They're based in Germany, but offer breakdown and recovery options throughout the EU and beyond. The cover is for the member driving any vehicle. I joined two years ago needing cover for my motorhome, which can be tricky due to exclusions based on size, weight or ag...

Re: Is the "F" a sports car (to you)?

It's the car that Cecil Kimber would have produced if he were alive - derived from 'off the shelf' parts and offering value, excitement and that MaGic feel!

And 'Maintaining The Breed' as Mr Thornley put it ...

Re: Seriously dangerous handling, advice please.

Absolutely it's the tyres!

I have experienced exactly this behaviour on my TF - when I bought it, the car had Goodyear GSD2 tyres on the front, and GSD3 tyres on the back.

The car was undriveable over 50ish mph.

I wouldn't do anything else other than get the front tyres changed immediately.

Re: Accident!

Got my car back today - hooray :D Looks as good as new ... The repairer kept the offside rear wing for me to see. Apart from the huge damage to it, what surprised is how light the panel is. I could easily pick it up with just one hand! Extraordinary. Also of note is that the panel was not painted on...

Re: Accident!

The rear wings are welded on and replacement is not simple or cheap. According to my bodyshop man, these panels are a lot easier to replace, and with better results, than a similar panel on an ordinary car. He says it's fiddly, but because the wings were welded during assembly, you're replacing lik...

Re: Accident!

Update ...

The car is now with the repairers, and the estimate is £2,300.

I am (still) awaiting contact from the removal company's insurers who apparently want to send out a loss adjuster.

Re: Accident!

Yes - the boot shut is fine, and the bumper unaffected, so the damage is localised. My body shop man, who has worked three times before on the car, has seen the pictures and thinks he has a wing in stock. This car appears fated somehow - this is the fifth time it's been damaged, and it was parked wi...
