steering squeak

At first i thought it was the suspension but now think it is the steering - if I move the wheel slowly there is no squeak and if i speed it up it comes in. It is accross the entire range of what the wheel can do - both left and right. started y...

cam timing
My current research says that to gain in the low and mid areas of the rev range (where I usually drive) an advance of cam timing is needed. Can this be done with a standard 1.8 engine? If I count correctly there are 48 teeth on the cam flywheel - if so then each tooth is worth 7.5 degrees. If I were...

Re: radiator fan
manual seems to display 1 relay and two fuses. I'll check the fuse but not too sure how to check the relays - will a voltmeter do the trick? It also says the ECU will energise the relay to operate the fan when the coolant temp. reaches 104 deg. c. until it drops to less than 98 deg. c. - If my therm...

Re: Will using higher RON or Super Unleaded fuel help my car?
please excuse me for asking a dumb question but surely a modification of the spark timing also changes the compression ratio as the fuel/air mixture has more or less time to compress before being ignited...........................? when you refer to the compression ratio are you referring to the phy...

ecu modification
If i'm driving in say 2nd gear at 2000 revs and then take my foot off the accelerator engine breaking kicks in and the engine decelerates to tick over where the car will then continue moving in second gear but at tickover revs. However - at around 1300 to tickover the car can 'kangeroo' or lurch for...

radiator fan
other day my car boiled over in heavy traffic. Managed to save it before anything bad happened but RAC guy diagnosed it as the radiator fan not turning on and i drove back home. Have since wired the fan up and am now driving with a wire in the cabin, whenever i'm in traffic or something i spark the ...
