Re: front hood condensation
You will notice that there are no rubber seals on the front end so nothing to stop the moisture creeping in.

Re: Cost of refitting headlining on hardtop?
It's really easy to do yourself for the cost of a lining material and glue....and a little time. You need to remove the inner lining of the hardtop which comprises a moulded fibreboard shell. This is held into the hardtop by the front hood catches, a couple of plastic 'rivets' at the back and velcro...

Re: VVC Bearing removal
Ah yes, I see it now! My understanding of the 'tappety' VVC gear is that it is wearing of the little square block cam sliders that are the noisy bits due to the increased clearances created. I believe that on original assembly the block sizes are selected for the best fit. Once a few thousand miles ...

Re: VVC Bearing removal
Is there a bearing?
I ask because most if not all camshaft related bearing surfaces are the alloy of the head and camshaft carrier.
I've not looked at any exploded diagrams, just going from experience of dismantling and reassembling the camshafts and VVC bits.

Re: EPAS Problem
I don't think the SAIC cars were any different than Rover/MG cars when it comes to EPAS. There seem to be only 2 types depending on how the EPAS ECU received its speed data. The early F's had cable speedometers and later ones had electrical speed sensors driven by the ABS........... I recall later ...

Re: New owner - Pektron fob question
I recently had new relays fitted to the SCU for my ZS180 by Technozen - same Pektron kit for same age MGR cars.
This was effectively done overnight plus transit times to and from Brighton. Excellent service!
He also read the EKA code and included this on my return paperwork.

Re: MGF Gold hard top.
Having had TFs both with and without hardtops I have to differ. An F/TF with a hardtop for the winter is a superb addition. Warmth, comfort, quiet, etc. It makes the car a really special Coupe and becomes an even bigger joy to drive, particularly so in the UK winter! I actually liked it so much I al...

Re: Cambelt alignment
My thoughts are:- 1 Which engine is it? 2 Do you have the correct cambelt? There is a difference between that for the 1.6i/1.8i and VVC. Compare the number of teeth with the one you took off. 3 Are you setting it up using the correct timing marks for the safe position? 4 If you place the belt on the...

Re: Have I got a VVC inlet manifold??
TFs all came with the alloy manifold, even the non-VVC ones. So the correct gasket kit would be the one sold as VVC, which comes with the correct inlet manifold gaskets – one between plenum and manifold, the other for the mating face on the cylinder head. Just for accuracy and being picky(!)...exce...

Re: Car required constant steering run out of ideas.
The rear end on an F/TF can affect the handling/steering.
If not done so then check the rear end carefully including wheel bearings for wear.

Re: Your MG and the ULEZ
.... There is not a huge amount of rubber in the MGF/TF fuel system - mostly metal, a couple of semi-rigid plastic pipes but there is a rubber hose to the fuel rail from the fuel filter.... I bet there are o-rings in the fuel system too! I had a massive fuel leak over the top of my engine on my rec...

Check out two areas:
1 The front bushes of the two trailing arms
2 Top engine mount on the right hand side adjacent to the cam-belt cover (you will need to take the engine cover off to see this).

Re: 2010 MG TF speedo irratic
I suggest you check out the wiring connections first. The speedo is driven by an electrical sensor fitted to the gearbox. The speedo end connections will be a multi-plug onto the instrument panel. In addition the electrical power steering takes its speed indication from the speedo, does the EPAS sti...

Wow...went for £332. I don't think it did...when I looked it was shown as 'out of stock' which I think means it was sold before time was up. Don't worry though guys, I have one, with fittings, to put on eBay asap! 8-)...or offers over £200? (No longer have an F or TF to put it on) Hi, I would be in...

Re: Shocker bolt
Well done, but having done this are you sure the shocker bottom bush is adequately located into the lower arm recess given that the flange on the dog bolt may now be taking up more/all the space? It's the lower bush that takes all the suspension loading, not the bolt, although the new dog bolts do l...

The switch pack at the back of the ignition switch is also known to cause problems. It maybe worth wiggling the wires and switch around as you turn the key and this may show if the problem lies there.
