It's gone!
Waved farewell to my TF160 today :( Hadn't used it much last year & as the other half would not set foot in it, decided to get a saloon we could both drive [we are 79 & 74]. Got a very tidy ZR160 monogram so am not to upset :D She doesn't like the exhaust note & sporty looks though  Happy F mo...

Re: Battery Or Alternator Problem
I use a battery immobilisor which you can get for £6 off Ebay. After using the car, I use the immobilisor to stop any battery drain, so it always starts ok next time. I don't bother locking the car [on drive] as there is nothing of value inside & the bonnet can't be opened without opening the boot w...

Re: Hood cleaning
My TF had a faded blue hood, so I gave it the 3 pack Renovo treatment.
The hood which had never leaked before, deposited drips of blue die on the front seats!
Also the hood still looked faded after using the die.
In the end I bought a good 2cd hand black hood with glass rear screen for £200 fitted.

Re: Coolant loss
As said many times before, replace your expansion tank cap, as they are known to fail.
Small amounts of coolant loss are always difficult to trace. The only thing to do is bleed the system & check the usual culprits, water pump, rad., hoses & connections.

Re: Spending money
I dread to think how much I have spent, owning both an F & my present TF160.
Some of it necessary & the rest cosmetic.
It's knowing when to stop!
It's an addictive hobby & the sad thing is that you will never recoup the money spent.

Re: Bringing a car back from Germany to UK
I bought a motor home in Germany about 12 years ago. To avoid the palaver of getting export plates etc., the seller said drive it back to the UK on my insurance & plates, which I did with no problems. I then posted the plates back to him. Probably not entirely legal, but I drove from Dover to home [...

Re: 135 to 160 conversion
It amazes me that people will do this sort of conversion.
The price difference of buying a 135/160 is not much different, so why not get a 160 & save all the faffing around?
Plus with the 160 you get the better wheels.brakes etc.

Re: Clutch Release
Your best bet is to contact "mg-rover mobile mechanics" who do a good job & are cheaper than using a garage. I have used them several times & live in Cinderford, Glos. If the car is drivable, there is a MGR garage, Overbrook , in the town of Drybrook which I also use. In fact my TF is going there to...

Try "MG-Rover mobile mechanics" who are based in Derby, but cover the Midlands & SW.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
My hood on the TF was tatty & leaking so went to "welovemgfs" in Pelsall, who fitted a good replacement with glass screen for under £200.
It was fine in the rain on way home & the windows seal better, so well pleased.

I have a Milltek central 4 branch exhaust.
When I bought it, a decat was fitted, but even as I'm deaf the noise was to much for me, so I refitted the cat.
Even now it's plenty loud enough!

Re: Soft top hood cleaner
I had a tatty blue hood on my 160, so bought the Renovo kit to refurbish same. Followed instructions, cleaned, proofed twice & dyed twice. Still didn't look very blue & the next few days had constant rain. Looking inside I noticed the hood was wet on the inside & spots of blue dye was dripping on th...
