Re: Wanted - locking wheel nut adaptor

Just do what I did, batter an old 18mm socket over them, take them off and chuck them in the nearest recycling receptacle, along with the rest of the nuts, and replace them with the chrome ones off Ebay. I wish I could get some replacement knuckles off Ebay, to replace the ones O.E Rover nuts have c...

HC is a pass, lambda is a pass, just rev it for a good 3-4 minutes then get the test done quick :)

Re: Will Mabel Ever be clean enough to pass the mot?

You can ask the tester to check the emissions first- idling on the ramp for 45 mins during the MOT can cause the readings to go up- ideally the car goes straight on the CO meter after a good blast. The station I use is a drive in one- no bookings so the car is well up to temp for the test. Rover, Ma...

Re: Will Mabel Ever be clean enough to pass the mot?

Tested the "turn everything electric on to drop readings" and it does drop emission readings which is really quite interesting! Plan now is to go the same route as mr Rigby and let a professional get this one to drop. Thoughts are working her hard to get her up to max running temp (hard to do witho...

Re: need help please

make sure the handbrake levers are still on their stops adjust handbrake . The cables need to be adjusted to give 1-2 mm clearance between the levers and stops. Geoff F. Thanks Geoff- having clearance is quite unusual- used to have real issues with Rover 600 handbrakes, and pretty much always found...

Re: Coolant Whiff

Coolant tank cap? If your cooling system i holding pressure then there should be no leaks, the only thing you aren't testing this way is the cap. I have seen (or smelt :) in the past that if a heater matrix has had a leak and been repaired or sealed the smell lingers for months, or even when bleedin...

Re: need help please

Air in the system wouldn't give a poor handbrake, and would give a soft pedal which would pump up. Did you de-adjust the handbrake cable all the way before fitting it to the calipers, when the handbrake is off, is the lever on the caliper right back against the stop? You will never get a good brake ...

Same colour combos as mine, but much cleaner. Very nice. I thought about white wheels, decided against it, and now you have me thinking again!

Sounds like you may have a dodgy boot loom- check for broken wires, and stuck brake light switch isn't uncommon- take it out and reset it, just pull the plunger gently...

Re: Interior lights won't go off

Couple of simple things to try first. Spray some WD40 down inside the door striker on the edge of the door, then use the key in the lock and make sure it's free and returning to centre. I had the same issues, tried loads of things, got a replacement lock from the scrappies which was worse, so ended ...

Re: Under Bonnet Light not working

The two are interchangeable, and voltages are enough to light the bulb. Check the switch which is up beside where the wiper motor is, as this provides the earth to complete the circuit when the bonnet is open. You may find it's just sticking.

Re: HELP!!! - Car wont start

I had a breakdown call out fairly late one night, to a Vectra which wouldn't start. Checked all the usual, and found no reason for it not to start, apart from no fuel reaching the engine. Fuel pump was doing what it should, and when I put power directly to the pump, it was whirring away and the soun...

Great idea! So many people have had issues, and been given help , but never get back to say " I did this and it did that". Please post before AND after. :thumbsu:
