Re: Track starter

Hi Keith, MGoT at North Weald in a couple of weeks time. Best recommendation possible for you I think. I was in a similar position to you and did this same event earlier this year. It is 100% novice friendly. Almost impossible to damage anything. Really friendly in organisation and of course the oth...

Maybe Black Daytona, trim code PVE?

Novice Trackday anyone?

At yesterdays meet at The Plough and having listened to peoples basic requirements for a track day, I think I have found something of interest... Firstly, the criteria: Full Day and Sessioned Novice only Option for up to 3 extra drivers per car. Weekends preferred Secondly, the best fitting offering...

Re: Our Solar Red TF160

Got all the bits and got stuck in to the final stages... Glovebox switch done. Fitted LED bulbs for footwell lighting. Changed the oil pressure switch and fitted a better hose clip on a coolant pipe. Looks like we are now leak free!! Got 4-Wheel alignment done on Friday evening. Four new Toyo's fitt...

Re: Our Solar Red TF160

Car is back on the road this evening. With new gearbox oil it is actually a lot easier to change gear than before. The lever was always needing a little something in the smoothness department so I'd greased the linkages already with a minor improvement but the oil change has made the biggest differe...

Out of interest, where did you get the black flexi pipe from?

Also, please reassure us all that the scissor jack wasn't the only thing supporting the car... :?

Re: Our Solar Red TF160

Cheers Ken. The leads are probably total overkill on an otherwise standard engine! Went to the local Land Rover dealer and ordered in a few bits for the engine, namely all the bolts which were missing from the cam belt cover and HT lead cover. They were missing when I bought the car. On the off chan...

Re: Our Solar Red TF160

Bit of an update for this now... Hope this next part helps others as there is so little info I found on the net and the workshop manual was OK but not 100% right in my case. Firstly, I lined up the camshafts on the timing marks as used when changing the belts. Disconnected the two breather pipes and...

Re: N/S inner driveshaft gaitor

Rimmers came to the rescue in the form of an OEM inner gaiter kit. Fitted to the shaft in about 5 mins and could have easily been done in situ. Final outcome of this was to just fit new inner and outer gaiters on the OEM shaft, keeping the OEM joints. Outer gaiter from First Line parts, fitted perfe...

Re: N/S inner driveshaft gaitor

I bought the full joint kit from eBay j_r2006 aka J&R Trading jandrcvjoints.co.uk I've messaged them explaining the situation and sent the photos above. The last correspondence from them is:- "the plastic ITEM IS NOT REQUIRED when fitting our item, remove it???" I'm not sure if this is a question or...

Re: N/S inner driveshaft gaitor

Long and short of it is the new gaiter is a completely different profile to the OEM. You can clearly see that with the 'goo ring' fitted the channel for the metal retainer to lay in becomes distorted so it cannot hold the retainer correctly. So should I: 1, Ditch the 'goo ring' again and just bolt i...
