Re: epas

yes you have to be a bit of a houdini to get to the sensor on the column ! especially difficult with those torx security screws. but once done I don't get that slight "kick" of the steering wheel once the epas starts up. it was mentioned on a previous MOT, so was time to sort it. I used a 5volt powe...

Re: OBD Socket

This is exciting stuff guyz ! - it will finally allow us with older cars to be "independent" and not in the hands of the MG Rover garage who currently have the stranglehold on the reading of any error data from the MEMS 2J and older versions of it !. Having spent about £30 on two different OBDII rea...

Re: OBD Socket

OBD ! - that caught my eye !. I have a W Reg VVC MGF which is MEMS 2 J. I've tried a couple of "OBDII" compliant readers on it, but none will connect. I have been a bit nerdy on this subject and spent hours researching why.............apparently cars marketed in the UK before 2001 didn't have...

Re: FIX, STRIP, SCRAP or sell on? End of my fuse!!

OK Chris :-)

Compression test on all cylinders very good idea. If the car was stood a long time, would the valve stem oil seals be hardened up ?. Might be causing a lack of seal more on one cylinder...

I'll leave you to investigate ! - so many of us here pooling thoughts !

Re: FIX, STRIP, SCRAP or sell on? End of my fuse!!

Hi Chris, I've been following this post with much interest !. Having had my MGF (VVC 2000 MY) since February and chased through about a dozen electrical faults - I can sympathize with your search for the cause. From what I understand, the Emissions are too high either on idle or fast running ?. The ...

Re: Central Locking Gone Again

Hi Martin, the locks were operating without any strange noises, but with one microswitch broken the alarm couldn't work out it if the locks were closed or not !. The "clickety, clickety, clickety" noise that many owners mention must be to do with the motor assistance in the lock continually rotating ...

Re: MGF Door Locks Central Locking Gone Again

I have also been having a few problems with my alarm going off. All seemed fine until I "enthusiastically" shut the driver's door whilst pushing the locking down at the same time ( the system spits up the pin again to stop you locking yourself out !). Long story short, I discovered that one of the m...

Re: High Idle

My first post on here so here goes ! The high idle speed on the MGF is a very common problem, you can google it and find hundreds of owners trying to track down the problem when it occurs. I was one of those owners and for about a month it was my mission to find out what was causing it on my MGF. If...
