Re: Gear cable rubber end sockets
Just thought that I would add a postscript to this. Yes the brass end sockets are replaceable ...I bought one for my bottom reverse cable as the rubber centre of the old one had worn and I was experiencing a bad crunching noise every time I put the car into reverse. The replacement was £14:99 from e...

Could anyone please clarify for me? Are these brass/ rubber end sockets changeable? they look like they are threaded but are they possible or easy to change for new ends.

Re: Difficulty engaging reverse without a crunching noise
I'll try this Stuart, I have heard that because of the construction of the pg1 ( should have been named the P1G) gearbox, it takes a few seconds to align the cogs for reverse.... I'll give it a go, can't do any harm!

Re: Difficulty engaging reverse without a crunching noise
Thanks for this, however I changed both the clutch and slave cylinder in the summer, so it can't be the slave, which was new. I have often had a slight crunch when getting reverse, it just seems to have become much harder over the past week!

Difficulty engaging reverse without a crunching noise
Can anyone please help me? I have had my MGF for 2 years but recently it has started to become difficult to engage reverse without it crunching or jumping out if gear! I have tried all the traditional remedies of engaging 3rd gear first and waiting a second before engaging reverse, but it doesn't se...

Re: Rear Window Repair
There are many on Flea bay who will do the job for prices ranging from 50 to 70 quid. I used a ella called the Seat repair guy based in Guisborough Cleveland, who did a brilliant job for me for Fifty pounds…although he lives near to me, he came and removed the panel took it away and came back and fi...

Re: Half leather red seats
I think that the colour you need is grenadier red. I have used gliptone's scuff coat, which you just paint onto the seats direct. It is an absolutely brilliant product which fills the cracks and leaves the seats like new. Just google search Gliptone's scuff coat and you will find their site. Cost ab...

How much would it cost to respray an mgf?
Looking to do mine next year in Platinum silver, only minimal dinks and dents to repair... No rust. Wondered if anyone else had had their car done recently and could recommend a spray shopping the north east?

Does anyone know wher i can get a SIlver carbon fibre effect centre console sticker from? I have looked everywhere and the only ones I can find are about £240! which seems a hell of a lot for a sticker. The one I have removed which was tatty, was about 3mm thick and covered with a laquered finish. A...

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement centre console sticker for my mk1 mgf?
The one I inherited is a silver carbon fibre effect about 3 mm thick. The only one I can find is on newton commercial for about £240! ....bit steep for a sticker!

firing order of the vvc 1.8 engine?
Could anyone please tell me the cylinder number of each cylinder, working away from the cam belt end? I know which plug lead needs to be connected to which coil pack terminal, but want to marry the right HT lead up with the correct cylinder on top.

Removing the block of the engine without the gearbox
I have just removed the cylinder head of my. Mgf vvc1.8 to find my worst nightmare...5 broken valves and three holed pistons. I have secured a replacement engine, but wondered if anyone knows if I can remove the remaining engine block an sump, without removing the gearbox as well, so that I can refi...
