Re: engine cut out at 50mph, now nothing

Hi. The last time my F cut out at 50 it was on a two-way road. Managed to get into a lay by using the starter motor. AA came and told me they don't like MGFs. He put some fuel in but it wouldn't start. Non-start is normally fuel or electrical. Turned out it was the ignition module. The engineer put ...

Re: Wanted - MG bolt through boot rack

Hi. You need the stainless steel version not the chrome one IMHO. The MG Shares the stainless steel rack with the Z3 BMW. I got my blanker bolts from a guy on the Z3 forum. If you need pics of the position of the holes (and the strength bars that go in the boot let me know. Ash Sent from my SM-N950F...

Re: Full body tonneau cover

Hi. The MGF tonneau uses small posts right at the front of the car where the windscreen meets the dash. There are 4 plastic screws that need to be changed. If you can find them make sure you change each in turn. If you unscrew all 4 the pipes to the windscreen vents can drop down. Ash Sent from my S...

Re: RE: Re: Full body tonneau cover

As mentioned the tonneau has magnets along the door section, which in terms of holding it in place (window down) work very well together with the door mirror strap. One problem I have found and I know others have mentioned it, is where the magnets make contact with the bodywork whiteish marks can b...

Hi Rob

The full tonneau uses magnets in the material along the doors.

I think officially it was a pen holder (to me it was "oh dear we have a space here what shall we call it?"

Re: RE: Re: Middle Brake Light early F

Tidy work. In the original design the engine was going to vent through the duct moulded into the boot lid and through the opening at the back. This proved to be inefficient so they changed it to vent through the top. That then left a hole that needed filling with the black panel. Back in 1996 middl...

Hi. Their day job is performance Japanese cars. http://www.autotorque.net/ Looks like they moved since I saw them last. if you want to come and take some pictures and measurements let me know. Note. The engineery Company put the rack on but I had to find it and the bars that go in the boot first. Ash

Re: Boot rack for a Trophy

Hi. There is a second rack which is smaller which might fit. I have one of my car and could do a pic if it helps. There is also a case that clips to it. Finding one is not going to be simple and attaching is even harder because you need to drill the boot! Be aware that the rack and case can be found...

Re: RE: MGF Hood down problem.

Hi. Have tried to put down the hood completely on my MGF 2001. It releases fine but only goes back about half way and then just seems to stop. Almost like it’s catching on something. Strangely enough, it was working fine last week folding back all the way. Frustrating.. Anyone have any clues. Thank...

Re: RE: Re: Mk1 vs Mk2 mechanical differences

A lot of it depends on the age of the mk2. Have a look at the ECU in the engine bay (visible from the boot on the left hand side). The mk1 will be rectangular, is the mk2 or is it wedge shape. If it is wedge shaped the mk2 is MEMS3. The alternator and the engine electrics will be different. The sta...

Some more irons for the fire.... ... My current standard non-special edition '05 reg MGTF 1.6 115 has the new rounder (plectron?) fob with lock+ unlock buttons which actually do lock + unlock central locking and set the alarm. The passenger door key lock is blanked off. But to confuse further, it a...

Re: Should my Mgtf have central locking

The only TFs that didn't have central locking are the TF 115 1600. If yours is a 135 and with an 1800 engine then it should have it. I don't think any TFs had a passenger key lock on the door. Hi. MGFs 1.6 was missing some other things - without being specific in an open forum (but you know what I ...
