Re: rad cap

Being able to vent at the correct pressure is part of the design of the cooling system, to avoid excess pressure blowing something else such as a hose, radiator or head gasket.

People have tried non O/E caps but they generally seem to fail much earlier.

Rover treated the cap as a service item.

Re: Headlamp Conversion RHD to LHD, Possible?

Spend the £1000 shipping to Baltimore, drive to L.A., drive the West Coast to Vancouver - give the car to Rich - nice holiday and car disposed of - sorted.

Re: Headlamp Conversion RHD to LHD, Possible?

Seems a bit extreme to ship a car to LA just to tour Northern California, wouldn't a run from New York be more fun, and then up to Vancouver?

Re: Blower control or fan?

As you have quite a few jobs to do it will be worth using the search box at the top, will save a lot of typing.

Also worth searching out the "how to's", there are quite a few on www.mgfforum.com

Re: Swapping ECU's and 5AS, can i disable my passenger airba

I don't think the 5AS ecu or the MEMS ecu have anything to do with airbags, that is controlled by a separate unit IRC.

Is you car a MEMS 1.9, 2.0 or 3?

Hi and welcome to the forum Andy Sorry to read about the theft, not a nice subject, especially for a first post. Pictures are useful, especially of the seats. Have you posted on the other MG forums, http://www.mgfforum.com springs to mind. Good luck in your hunt, let us know if anything turns up. Ja...

Re: Calling all experts... urgent advice required.. OMG(F)

Sorry misread the messages - £35 for a bottle seems reasonable - make sure that they fit one with an alarm if that is what you have, possibly worth fitting one even if you haven't already, just worry about the wiring later.

Keen for an answer?
Three posts?

Caps are known to fail, personally I treat them as a service item.
£35 is very steep for a cap, Rimmers charge about a sixth of that.
Always worth buying a genuine one, they are only a little more than pattern ones.

Always best to keep to one thread with the same issue - http://www.mgfregister.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=16588 And not to post the same question in two threads ;) Caps are known to fail, personally I treat them as a service item. £35 is very steep for a cap, Rimmers charge about a sixth of that....

Re: If you haven't changed your TB from 48mm to 52mm already

It's not just about the extra bhp at the top end, the better breathing improves the car through the whole range, same as the TB. I used a K&N Apollo which had originally come from a ZS180 so had a 45' duct. I fitted this so that the inlet to the filter was a straight line from the nearside vent. A 9...

Re: How do you set the Tick Over speed

It is most likely to be the coolant temp sensor, there are 2, one feeds the ECU which sets the choke (brown IIRC) and this will be misreading, then there is another that feeds the temperature gauge (blue).

I changed mine without much loss of coolant by working quickly.
