Girlie Cars ?
On a half hour local (North Wales) drive last week I saw 5 F/TFs, all with lady drivers. Does this mean: 1. most F/TFs are owned by girlies, 2. it was too cold for men to take out their cars, 3. the male owners were all at work earning the cash to keep their MGs running, and wives/girlfriends were g...

Re: Accelerator cable
Tried lubricating accelerator cable yesterday, by disconnecting at carb and dribbling 3 in 1 oil down the cable while holding it as high as possible. Half hours work really paid off, accelerator is now much smoother and another bonus was discovering that the throttle was not opening fully. Hasn't ex...

Rear Screen modification
As the LE500 and also MY2005 have glass screens fitted with apparently very little modification to the hood, it occurred to me that it may be possible to brace the plastic window at each side so that it keeps its shape when up and more importantly stays flat (not folded) when the hood is lowered. I ...

Re: Central locking.
Thanks Chris, thought it was too good to be true! I'll just have to keep remembering to lock the passenger door, at least while it had a broken door handle it was more secure!

Accelerator cable
Having just driven the new TF LE500 today I am now very conscious of the very jerky movement of the accelerator of my TF. I presume the stiffness is due to age/lack of lubrication. Question is~: what the easiest and most efficient way of improving throttle response without changing throttle body?

Central locking.
I have just spent a pleasant evening replacing the passenger side door handle on my TF. In the course of the experience I noticed that the locking mechanism seems to be wired for central locking even though the car does not have the function. It is a 2004 TF115 which as far as I am aware was ...

Re: dealership
Visited Graham Walker in Chester today to view the new TF, very positive attitude in the showroom and they seem genuinely interested in the MG brand (well they would if they hope to sell some!). new car looks good, not sure if I like the low profile tyres, the wheel arches look very empty. The glass...

Re: dealership
The local dealer appointed is Graham Walker, Bumpers Lane,Chester. I spoke to one of the salesmen today, they have an open weekend this Sat 20th and Sun 21st when they will be launching the LE 500. They seem very enthusiastic about new TF and have already sold 3 of their allocation. Apparently they ...

Passenger's door handle
As I tried to open the passenger door this afternoon the lift-up flap came off in my hand! Car is a '04 TF 115 without central locking. Has anybody done a replacement job..... if so, how easy? where is the best place (ie cheapest) place to buy a new one, I think second-hand is probably false economy...

Echo
creak, creak.....crash! That proves it, when a tree falls in a forest there is a noise to be heard. But not on this web page! Isn't it funny how your voice echoes when there's nobody else around.

Re: MG TF battery life??
My Nov 2004 TF developed battery trouble during last winter, needing a jump start if left for more than a week or so, the car was very low mileage when I bought it so presumeably had sat around for long periods. I bought a solar panel to feed the battery which seemed to cure the problem but when off...

Suspension lubrication
:? I understand that there is a grease nipple on the front suspension on the TF...where are they and how can I reach them. Does the car need to be jacked-up or on a ramp or can they be reach with wheels on full lock? Second query; I get a high pitched squeak from the rear when I drive over speed bum...

Re: rear screen
Had my rear screen replaced with KRJ Trimmers of Middlewich..Excellent service I dropped the car off and they gave us a lift into the centre of Middlewich, we just had time to explore the town!! and half way through a cup of coffee I got a call to say the car was ready (approx 1 hour). Picked up and...

Re: Windows
Had a problem with my TF for the first time this winter, water coming in via passenger window. I found that when the door was closed with the hood up there was a gap at the top front of the window between it and the screen pillar. Two solutions seem to have worked, one is to open and close the windo...

Re: new owner here
I have used my TF over the last two winters, I did intend to try a hard top but didn't get round to it and I 'm glad I didn't. The car is very 'cosy' to quote my regular passenger and warms up very quickly with the hood up (non aircon). the only concession during the winter has been a windstop which...

Re: rear screen
I have decided, now that the warmer weather is here, to have my cracked rear screen replaced. Question for rob, how is the replacement from KRJ Trimmers that you had fiited in Jan. Is it still OK and were you happy about the work, it seems a fair price compared with other suppliers and a lot less ha...

Re: Flat Battery
Thanks for the head-up on trickle chargers. I contacted solar panel company yesterday and received the smaller (1.5Watt) panel this morning - excellent service. Now will have to see if it does the trick!

Re: Flat Battery
Thanks for responses, I suspect that the car just isn't getting enough use. It lives outside in the cold, has anybody any experience of the solar panels that keep battery trickle charged, that might just be enough to counteract current drain due to alarm/immobiliser.

Flat Battery
For the third time in recent weeks I have had to use jump leads to start the TF. It hadn't been used for four or five days but nothing was left switched on (this time!) The only possibility is the radio, I am too lazy to turn it off properly... question 1 is it likely that the power amp or whatever ...

Re: TIME TO WAKE UP
Don't blame the Penguin, you folks should know that the whole of Wales goes into hibernation every November. we don't usually re-emerge until the daffodils are in full bloom.
