2 ways to upload photo, but neither work when using 'quick reply' option - Method 1 Hit the 'full editor and preview' button just next to the 'submit' button below the quick reply text box. Re: Bracket to fit
It fits on the end of the exhaust manifold, mounting on the stud nearest the alternator
Think its to protects the timing belt cover from the heat from the manifold.

Re: Exhaust sensors
The sensors are screwed in, but because they have a wires coming out of the end, you cant use a normal socket/wrench on them. You can buy special lambda sensor sockets that have a slot in the side for the wires to pass through. Because the exhaust is subject to lots of heat cycles, the senors can be...

Re: Oil cooler on Trophy
It hasn't been removed, it didn't have one to start with.
The oil cooler was only fitted to the TF160.
Trophy 160's don't have them, even though they share the same engine

Re: Different tyres
Seems there is some confusion being caused by these workshop manuals, which I think state what can be fitted not what was originally fitted to a particular car. The true answer as to what you should have fitted is in your cars handbook. Fortunately I have access the Mk2 F handbook, note 215/40R16 fr...

Re: Servicing in Warwickshire
Unfortunately TechSpeed closed several years ago now. A real shame as they were very good and I used to live just up the road from them. I haven't used him personally but there is a chap called Gavin Fairley who does (or at least did) MG Rover servicing in Ryton which isn't too far away. http://www....

Re: Wheel nuts - plain or with washers
I've been using solid nuts on my TF for the last 10 years with no ill effects or daamge.
Just clean the taper on the nut and wheel before tightening and no damage is caused when tightening.
I don't use any lubrication as I don't want to over torque the nuts.

Re: Stereo connector problem
As standard TF's have ISO connectors fitted so most head units are simply plug and play. The connector in the pic isn't an ISO connector, as ISO uses 2 connectors each with 2 rows of 4 pins. I would first check a bit further along the wires to make sure its not an adapter harness plugged into the or...

Re: Water in Sills!!
The sills on a TF have a small drain hole front and rear, and its not uncommon for them to get blocked. If both holes on one side block then you can sometime hear water sloshing as you accelerate/brake. Its sound like the rear drain hole could be blocked hence water is collecting when it parked nose...

Re: Alloy Wheel Range Upgrade
All the wheels from the F/TF range will fit a '96 car with standard brakes. The only limiting factor on wheel choice on the F/TF is if you have the AP 4 pot callipers and larger discs fitted, as only a certain number of 16" wheels will fit, and none of 15 wheels". So yes you can fit pretty much fit ...

Re: tf exhaust onto mk1f
Yes a TF cat will fit if your fitting a TF silencer too. If your fitting a used cat with a sensor already fitted, you can either cut the wires or cable tie them out of the way in the engine bay. If its a new cat, then you can simply plug the sensor boss with a suitable bolt or you can get purpose ma...

Drive it day run - 22nd April
To celebrate drive it day next Sunday we will be having a leisurely drive through the Warwickshire and Gloucestershire countryside, via Broadway Tower and finishing up at Sudeley Castle. The run will start from the southbound services on the A46 (i.e. heading towards Stratford on Avon, shortly befor...

So you are saying the X-Power Hoops don't foul the T-Bar??? What modifications are needed then to fit them? where do I get a pair? Yes, I'm freighting to down under. There are 2 versions of X-power hoops. The earlier Mk1 style fit behind the T-bar, and mount using the seat belt inertia real mountin...

Re: Oil change
1. Recommended oil for the VVC engine is 10W40 semi synthetic. The oil brand is dependent on your budget. 2. If changing the oil filter as well, you need 4.5 liters. 3. Nothing special but I would advise removing the engine cover and refilling using the oil cap on top of the engine. You'll be surpri...

Re: Tyre pressures
When MG first started selling F's with 16" wheels they came with 215/40R16 front and rear. Our 2001 F has this arrangement. When the MGF Trophy was released, MG switched to 195/45R16 on the front, and this was carried forward onto the TF. The reason is that the slightly narrower fronts help turn in ...

Re: MG TF Unstable, nervous handling
I have had similar symptoms with my TF feeling unstable in a straight line (felt fine when cornering) and this turned out to be a failed rear wheel bearing. I assume your mechanic friend checked for play in the bearings and suspension bushes? I suspect the mix of tyres certainly isn't helping (MGF'S...

Hi Nicky, welcome to the forum.
The following site has a database of garages that can pump up Hydragas suspension.
Hopefully there will be some where near you.
