Re: paint code question
Wings and doors are identical and interchangeable between f's and tf's ...bumpers are radically different though. if you change the doors, get a new set of steel hinge bushes first...also, examine the hinge pins too- only prudent to change them over if you're taking the doors off anyway

Very early F on e-bay
Nothing to do with me but thought this is of interest...an N reg, SAC number plate which could be press fleet (?)
E-bay item 321652173024
If it's as I suspect then surely it should end up with an enthusiast ay?

Re: how is your f facing up to winter
Mines doing ok, hardtop has been on for a while (boooo!) and the car is all covered up with a breathable cover. Took it out this morning for a long run then cleaned and polished it before wrapping it up in its cover again.
Roll on the summer though ay...miss having the roof down

Phil I'm so pleased both for you and this very special car, looking forward to seeing it in its restored splendour at MGF20!
Mykel so sorry buddy. For anyone who has experienced the loss of one of these much loved cars it really is a horrible feeling, just glad that no one was hurt.

Re: Difficulty engaging reverse without a crunching noise
Agreed with Mykel, that's the worst case scenario. But as there's no syncromesh on reverse gear it's perfectly normal for these cars to experience that a degree of that slight yet irritating crunch. The way round it is to put it in first gear first, then take it out of first and then engage reverse ...

Re: I'm gonna torch it!
It is 10mm, trouble is they're such a pig to shift that previous attempts may have rounded them off a bit. Best bet is a 10mm brake spanner, which is a bit like a ring spanner but with a smaller gap- any good motor factors will stock them...oh and plenty of penetrating spray cos they get rusted on g...

Re: b@*@*@d cars!
Helbsbyman, it's that 40 mile round trip early on a Sunday morning that I do to a café in the middle of nowhere each week in the car that I really look forward to- no-one on the road and a mixture of dual carriageways and twisty B roads...coupled with the big lardy fry up naturally of course. I like...

Re: b@*@*@d cars!
Similar tale of reliability from my TF- it's done 67k and the only time it ever let me down was when the fuel sender unit gave up and it ran out of petrol. Other than that it starts on the button and runs like a champ. I don't use it every day, maybe 2/3 times per week, but I start it every other da...
