Re: Air intake Hose

Hi Steve, I reused the original hose, which I disconnected from the resonator box. In my case, the hose clamp fixing it was loose anyway. The cable tie that secures it is a bit fiddly to undo, yet it can be done. I then removed the air cleaner box and discarded the tubular connection from the resona...

Re: Removing driver's door card while door locked

MGTF door cards are the same as MGF ones from MY2000 onwards, so you shouldn't have problems to find one.

Hi Faz and Oli, although I just stumbled across this thread it's always good to hear that at least the two of you weren't seriously hurt in the incident. Best wishes from my side and get well soon! :thumbsu: Unfortunately from what I take from the posts, your MG isn't that well off. As I keep an occ...

Brand New MGF Bodyshell on eBay

Hi folks,

whilst digging around on eBay, I just came across an interesting offer from B&G. They have an original, brand new MGF (not TF) bodyshell going for 599 quid: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/230503872842.

Cheers

Re: mgf

Blimey, the idle rev problem has actually not really improved after the inlet manyfold was properly fixed now. Yet I think that I found a kind of replicable way to actually provoke the needle to stick at 1.400 rpm. And it's two possible ways to achieve the dreaded thing. Situation 1: I drive on coun...

Re: Headlights are like candles, any improvements?

Well Lee, those 100W bulbs will vaporise the rest of your reflectors' chroming in no time, I'm afraid. I would even think the reflector bowls themselves might get out of proper shape in the long run due to the much higher temperatures the bulbs create.

Re: Headlights are like candles, any improvements?

That's right, Charles,

in German we have the the proverb "kostenlos ist meistens umsonst", which roughly translates "free of charge is mostly for nothing".

I definitely think that this applies to cheap labour as well. :D

Re: Headlights are like candles, any improvements?

Hi RedArrow,

with the mod (or as standard with Trophy models) only the outer chrome rim is painted black, this is for optical effect only. The reflector bowl itself (which is a separate part) is not touched. To get an idea, have a look on Rob's site here.

Cheers

Re: Blowing Exhaust Mystery?

Hi Dave, I experienced a quite similar sound, something like a farting noise, especially under acceleration. I also had the exhaust system as a suspect, yet everything seemed to be okay there. In my case it was a nut lacking on the inlet manifold where it connects to the cylinder head. Came from bei...

Re: I needed a car it was in budget so....

Hi and welcome, Skiddaw, there is a forum member here trying to sell a completely new hood with rear window, yet it's the fabric only and has to be fixed to your existing frame. This is kind of a pita, but can be managed. And might be a bargain solution if your hood framework is still in good workin...

Re: Buy a mgf/Tf in UK ? ( french )

Salut Nestea, the problem with the Certificate of Conformity is that MG Rover is not with us anymore. There is a website where you can order one for the specific car you will have bought, but this will cost some 200 Euros or so. And I found on this site, that "if you are exporting a vehicle manufact...

Re: MGF Tow bar in Australia?

If you really want to stow loads in the boot, you should have a look at http://www.roadsterbags.eu. They make a set of bags, holdalls and cases that fits the MGF/TF boot perfectly to the last cubic inch. Not cheap and possibly ruinous to get them down under but maybe the solution to those away-for-a...

Re: Buy a mgf/Tf in UK ? ( french )

Yeah, go for it, nestea! I'm from Germany and I got my MGF from near London as well. You can actually check a lot of UK cars' history beforehand over the Web, so you might pick out two or three offers worth the while. When you want to take the car to France, you should check if the car is MoT'd (tha...

Yes RedArrow, that is what I had to do. Normally I didn't want to have them touch my car again, but under terms of guarantee I unfortunately had to give them another try to fix it. Left the car there this morning and got her back in the late afternoon. They gave me a courtesy car for free for the da...

Re: whatelse to replace when changing hydragas units

If the dampers are okay, you might want to have a look at their bushes and check if the washer cups are fitted on the dampers' lower mounting points (part number RYF100430, item # 23 in the pic). This applies to both front and rear suspension. http://www.mgfcar.de/epc/me0645b.cgm.gif http://www.paul...

Re: where is the stepper ajustment and how do is do it

Switch ignition on (pos 2), press throttle 5 times slowly but firmly (half a second down, half a second up), wait another 10 seconds, then turn ignition off. That's it, IACV stepper resetted.

Re: Headlights are like candles, any improvements?

And, by the way, if everything else fails, there is still my much beloved Astonish oven and cookware cleaner. Use this with a wet cloth or (when stubborn) a nailbrush and virtually all kinds of dirt get off any given material (not to be used on painted or varnished areas of course).

Re: Headlights are like candles, any improvements?

When I had to change the headlights to LHD, I actually got one damaged n/s unit here and simply changed the spray lens, which was quite milky on the broken one while the original UK specs main beam was fine. I removed the inner glass and put it in the dishwasher, the milky stains seem to be aluminiu...

Hmmm, not really about the hood itself, but the tonneau cover ... I was quite annoyed by some blackish stains on my beige tonneau cover, now that the sun has finally come out. They appear on all prominent parts of the cover, such as bulges, folds, and foremost the rear part tucked under the boot lid...
