Head gasket

Looking to do my head gasket on 2001 MGF MK2 VVC

Anyone got a link to a kit they've brought or recommend with upgraded gasket and bolts etc??

Thanks

Thanks. So can you access them if you remove the ash tray?

Speaker cables

I'm trying to trace the wires for the rear speakers in a 2001 MGF. Does anyone know how they get from the radio to the T bar, which route do they take?
Thanks

Re: New clip for air box

Many thanks, actually someone kindly pm’d me last night and has offered to send me one in the post. It’s rather nice being in such a friendly club. Wiltshire is a rather nice part of the world for driving roads, I’m a bit south of you near Marlborough I agree, I spend lots of time just driving arou...

Re: New clip for air box

I’ve managed to break one of the pull down clips that holds on the air box on my mgtf whilst changing the air filter. Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement? Thanks Are they the same as the MGF ones? If so I have spares that came off mine when I fitted a cold induction unit instead. I'm onl...

Re: Toyo tyres

Next week I will have 4 of these to sell. Just 2 years old and around 1000 miles usage, probably still 6mm left although yet to measure that. I will post some photos when I advertise them. I'm in Swindon but work in Oxfordshire and can deliver if necessary.

It depends which wheels you have - the 15" MGF wheels should have 185/55/15 front and 205/50/15 rear and IIRC 26psi and 28psi respectively.
I have 16" on so I went for the bigger tyres. Just wondering whether to stick with 24/28 psi or not.

Re: Falken ZE310

I'm getting some of these fitted very soon to replace dodgy Toyo ones.

What's the recommended PSi on them?

I'm having 195 on the front and 215 on the rear and with the Toyo's I used to run 24 psi front and 28psi rear.

Re: Back in the fold

I've always liked the look of the white ones. Hope you can sort all those issues and keep it on the road cos as you say these old ones are getting rarer each year. And if you find yourself not needing or wanting the hard top let me know as I may be interested and looks like I'm not too far from you ...

I think he means the silver colour is different on an F and TF. The hardtops are indeed compatible :thumbsu:

Re: Fitting MGF REAR mudflaps

I don't remember any 'kits' coming with both my front and rear ones, just screws (and instructions) to fix them on. Pretty sure it took minutes as well. Was a couple of years ago though.

Re: Weird speedo movement

You have a Freestyle? It'll be a MY2000 with an electronic speedometer. Not sure why the speedo went full-range randomly, but this sounds like an electrical fault - either at the sender end, or a poor earth or at the speedo head itself... Simple things first - pop off the plugs, spray on electrical...

Weird speedo movement

Anyone have any ideas on this? Haven't used the F for about 4 weeks (not sure if that's relevant) but today when I first drove it after a few minutes of driving the speedometer went wild and moved around to 130mph and then back to normal before going back to 150mph. I was only driving around 30 hone...

Fitting a start button

I have done a search but can't really find the answers I'm looking for. I'm looking to fit a start button near the cig lighter in series with the ignition key switch. I know it's a pretty pointless mod but I'm doing it anyway. I've found a wiring diagram via the T Bar and read about someone doing th...

Is 1999 a MK1? As I may have a spare one in the loft, original too.

Lowering an MGF

I've recently had new Hydragas spheres fitted by Dawn and Ian Kennedy which are all fine but the ride height is factory set and is too high, looks weird. I have measured it to check but it just doesn't look good. I need to lower it but don't really want to remove fluid as it's all just been done. Ha...
