Re: Replacement for TF confirmed?

I don't think that's true. I think that everyone is getting in there early to say what they don't want is a generic sports car. The MGF and MGTF certainly weren't that, so something in that ground breaking mold please. Something distinctly MG, yet modern. Something as good to look at as it will sure...

I was 25 when I bought mine. That was 15 years ago ;) Not a day older now in outlook (except for the bambinos of course ;))

Re: Oh B****r!!!

How would getting a bodyshell help? Surely the cost of building a complete car around the shell even if all the fittings could be transfered from the current one would be just as costly? That depends on how much of the repair bill is in the labour involved in stripping down the components, straight...

Re: Oh B****r!!!

New body shell from Rimmers currently selling for peanuts (£750+VAT IIRC). They're having a giraffe aren't they? New body shell, plus paint, plus labour. Can't be more than the car's worth at, say, £10k (being pessimistic)?

Re: Interior lights

Does this intermittent fault effect both doors, or just the Driver's side? My suspicions would centre on the wiring loom to the door lock, or to the door lock connector. What vintage is your MGF? Chances are the problem may lie with the external connector. http://mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/DIY/door_l...

Re: Vehicle Safety Recall MG Motor MGTF (16 March 2011)

I wonder the same thing! The 'good part' appears to be the same as has always been fitted to Rover Group/ MG Rover MGFs and TFs. The inferior one appears to be a cheaper copy, with no prizes awarded for guessing where they were sourced. I suspect that earlier "New Journey" TFs were using up old stoc...

Looks like the more 'modern' version I have here at home is 2002!!!

But that's really great! I'll PM you my email (I think that the email associated to the forum may be a little out of date).

Re: WANTED: Vernier Pulleys for VVC

You'd probably put off more than you'd attract to be honest. But there will be those who'd be interested in a track biased MGF with a nicely tuned engine. However, to optimise any sale, I'd actually return the car to standard - or at least put the standard MEMS back on. If not re-using the tuning ge...

Re: MGF Suspension help please

I do the majority of the work on my car myself and have read up on lowering the suspension on the forum today so that I can do this, its seems straight forward enough but I just wanted to check my understanding, am I right in saying that I should press in the centre of the valve for a few seconds, ...

To me, they look like the lock wires/ boot lamp connectors, as Mykel has already mentioned... :)

Re: Leak from downpipe/flexi pipe joint

Just searched the DVLA website. Last date of liability 2002 - now no longer licenced. Crumbs, lasted longer than I thought! It had terminal wheel arch rot when we got rid in 1994 (patched welded). Oh, and that Nissan also blew a head gasket on the A303. Managed to nurse it the last 30miles home on 3...

Re: Leak from downpipe/flexi pipe joint

The Nissan was probably doing a little over 70 at the time, and when the roadspeed started to fall, I was right on the exit, so took a quick, but easy decision. I suspect whatever friction material left on the clutch plate expired trying to egg the thing up that incline and into the carpark. I don't...

Re: What is this relay please?

Difficult to know for sure - do you have fog lamps? When added as a dealer retrofit, the relay is (on my car at least) "loose", and not mounted in a socket. If not this, then the best thing is to trace the course of the wires. It'd be unusual for a CD player to be connected to the fuseboard via a re...
