Re: Rev Limiter lower after replacement H.Gasket!

Paul, it's labelled as item (2) in the figure below. It's known as the hydraulic control unit and spool valve in the K-series manual:

Re: revs and temp

Damaged/ aged HT leads should always be replaced. On older VVCs (like yours), they have a particularly long run from the coil packs bolted to the back of the engine, and are prone to shorting on the chassis (particularly when damp). Can cause a lot of starting problems. If the HT leads haven't been ...

Re: Not right since fitting a 52mm TB

I think that Rich has probably hit the nail on the head here - I too suspect the TPS calibration. Every throttle position sensor is a little different, and every ECU is calibrated to suit the TPS fitted. Two solutions therefore. First, as Rich suggests is to retain the original TPS and bolt it to th...

Re: F sounds like a beetle

Keep us posted PJ. One word of advice regarding those braided hoses. They don't come with clips to retain them close to the damper as the standard hoses do - so they actually can be dangerously left loose. I read somewhere that someone actually lost their brakes due to the hoses rubbing the inside o...

Re: ENGINE REVS NOT DYING

Hi Rob, As I said in my intro, I've cleaned and checked the operation of the IACV. It all looks pretty good. I've had it out twice to double check. Nothing obvious or suspect found. willyphixitt You're right. You did, sorry... Hmm. Quick summary of the problem: before a 7 month lay-up there was no ...

Really nice looking MG - well done, and enjoy! :thumbsu:

Only one purchase that is really worth considering at this point - and that is a low-coolant alarm. I've got one of Brown and Gammon's finest, and it's been superb - and will give plenty of warning of depleting water store! :)

Re: mgf

Well, the HT leads definitely needs replacing - no shadow of a doubt. Whether you invest in Magecore or just use standard repalcements? I'm not sure that there is much of an advantage to the Magecore items, but then that said, I have had Magecore HT leads on my car for over 10 years now, and ever a ...

Similar to Mykel's proposal - someone has already done this on their MG Rover TF (as found over on the .org forum):

All do-able. Just needs a relay to switch the DTR lights off when the dipped beam/ mainbeam is switched on.

Re: MG6 VIP Launch Event

I still haven't sat in a UK-spec car, but the Chinese spec car that was at MG Live last year was a bit underwhelming. Notsomuch for the quality or fit of the plastics, but more about the design. Compared to the MG ZT we have (which I confess to have had the grey 'technical' plastic painted in body c...

Yes, Gerry Hiorns' Golden wheels went to the crusher (as evidenced in this thread, sadly: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4517&p=35993&hilit= ... els#p35993). Parts of it live on in other cars though!

Hopefully someone can help out?

Let's see what the MG styling team come up with - a lot will depend on the wheel base, and where they decide to put the engine!

Re: Any members here good at Microsoft Access?

I would have thought that import of the Excel spreadsheet straight into Access would be very straightforward? It's the bits after that that are a little tricky (for me anyway!) I personally would like for some of the database to be publically accessible - as you say Powelly, having the facility to p...
