Re: Pleased with the start up
My F can sit for weeks and then start first turn of the key as long as there is charge in the battery, anything over a month and she requires the trickle charger.
I recently started my mk1 ZS after leaving it without a battery for over 2 months, second turn and she fired up.

When I stripped my maestro diesel one of the few bits I kept was the box with such a project in mind for my maestro T16!
There is a wealth of PG1 info on www.rovertech.net

Re: SLK out MGF in!
Nice one - folding the roof down adds more insulation over the engine so reduces the engine noise in the cabin.

The wiring is there on all MGF and TF's.
Make sure you get the correct switch for your year.

Both Russel (mg solutions above) or Mike of MJS do a very good mobile service.

Re: new starter required
Both the 2.0 montego and the 1.8 MGF use the same gearbox known as a PG1 so it is possible that the starter will fit both.

Re: 500 miles @ 46mpg
My understanding was that they were going to do away with standard 95ron and then 95E10 would just be labled 95ron.

Re: 500 miles @ 46mpg
It's advised to use 98ron in the F in France due to 95ron being 10% ethonol which doesn't go well with rubber seals in the fuel system.

Re: 500 miles @ 46mpg
Which engine do you have?
My best so far is 40.6 mpg but I haven't worked out the figures from our euro 2013 tour yet.

Re: Is the "F" a sports car (to you)?
I realise that this is probably a non-issue in the rest of the world, but when I go on the Autobahn here in Germany, with no speed limit along the sections that I often go on, it's a bit disappointing when you get above about 70 to 80 mph and there's just no more acceleration... it can work its way...
