Re: Can anyone recommend a reliable outdoor cover?

I have the sunmate, and it is great at keeping the weather off the roof and out of the car. It won't protect the painwork of course, as it is a small cover for the roof and windscreen. Outdoor covers are available from a number of sources. I've used Halfords own brand ones - which are fine, but like...

Yes, rear bulkhead carpet behind the rear seats. The "F" cut out is found on all such carpets :) Another example can be found in part 2 of my Project Shed blog - http://mgf.ultimatemg.com/project_shed/part2.htm - scroll down to the vehicle archaeology section. As mentioned in the text, I have always...

Ah! So you have a full undertray - of course, that makes a lot of sense :)

Re: TF Race Car Build

I like the vent vanes and also the paint extension onto the door skin - finishes the green element nicely! You sometimes see similar suspension straps on vehicles to limit droop - is it needed on a TF? It'll make lifting a wheel easier - which may not be a good thing? I can't imagine that at full dr...

If someone could come up with a conversion to F headlamps to be as good as TF lamps I'd be tempted to retro retro fit an F front end
Lots of folks have previously fitted projectors inside the MGF lamp bowl - but it does change the "classic" look of the MGF...

Re: Central locking

I found the control unit was refurbished by Remobilise and Kev there has been very helpful. I have reconnected the wires and traced a fault to the drivers side latch where I think one of the micro switches in the unit may have failed….there may be other issues as the electric motor just spins when ...

Try looking at Dieter's site http://www.mgfcar.de/epc/1524.htm I replaced one of them years ago, and have forgotten which is which  me too - but the wiring colours on Dieter's website should resolve the question, although which if the sensors to order from Rimmers is another question!

I was thinking the same - although also I had thoughts of using the smaller Metro servo - of which I happen to have one in the garage :)

Re: Turbo or 'as is'?

I've thought about this so much, I even have both a supercharger and a turbo charged 1.8 K-series from a Rover 75! More than that, I even had a turbo manifold made based on the BBR GTi manifold from their turbo conversion back in the day... If you don't have airconditioning, then the front mount int...

Re: Unknown Engine Temp

Thanks for the reply. I bought this one as the replacement for the temp gauge sensor. Have I made a mistake? https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-MEK100061P I think so yes. I have to say that the Rimmer Bros diagram is extraordinarily unhelpful in this instance - although actually not their fault, as the...

Would be interesting to see the light pattern from the new bulbs :) This was always my great concern with HID bulbs when they were the all the rage 10 years ago.

I won't go into the whole legal argument of non-halogen bulbs; as you say, not E-marked - so "off road use" only ;)

Re: has anyone retro-fitted MG-TF rear suspension to MGF ?

I have re-located the servo and master on my road car - but the advantages to doing this were minimal IMO. The arrangement we came up with retained the existing torsion bar across the bulk head, but aligns the servo more directly in line with pedal - this means a near standard arrangement of the pus...

Re: TF Race Car Build

Great work with the ITBs - will be really interesting to get the car onto the rolling road! :D The vent in the front wings look very good - I have thought about doing something similar - and by far this is the easiest way to get air out of the wheel arch area. There is a wing support where the vent ...

Re: MGF Roll bar in chrome

Nice - I have one of these too - this is the original X-power roll hoops - quite a desirable option for our cars. Do you have the brackets? They are bolted down to the seatbelt mounts, and will be needed to fit them to another car.

Good luck with the sale! :thumbsu:

Difficult to know whether these are the CL cables as the colour of the cables are obscurred by tape. We need to find you the connector diagram for the Pektron unit - one of the bits of information I do not have unfortunately. Can anyone help? It'll probably be on a RAVE disc. I saved a ZR115 for this purpose - the clutch is a little heavy on it. May be a bit of car arthritis - need to investigate - but otherwise, I would have though the MG would have made an excellent learner vehicle! :D

Re: Ignition key won't turn

It's interesting to compare the two cars - the MGF and the TF - in such similar colours! The TF was such a successful re-style, and the LE style bumper just took it that little bit further.

Its sad that no one has taken it on as a restoration project.

That said, I'll buy the column and EPAS gear if you are inclined to strip anything off it before it is weighed in.
If you need an EPAS column, drop me a message - I have a spare :)

Re: MGF project to go

I had no idea this car was still available! Shame - if nothing else, it would have been a great parts vehicle.

Sad that no one was able to take this car from you :( [Project Shed started from a base car that was far worse than this!]
