Re: LED bulbs
Also what about changing the dash lights? They will look a bit rubbish if everything else is bright white! Not really IMO..the footwell lights and the mirror lights only come on when you aren't driving...Bright LEDS make them more useful and they don't seem to clash with the dash lights in my LE500...

Re: LED bulbs
The later TFs had LEDs fitted as standard to the mirror..
I wonder if they are retrofittable to the MGR mirrors?

Re: LED bulbs
I've put pure white led's in the footwells and interior lights, all ok so far. I have one in the boot, ok with that but now it get's a bit tricky and I'm not an electrician. I placed one in the under bonnet too but it wouldn't work, checked everything, took the one from the boot, that worked there ...

Re: Alarm on an LE500 ?
My LE500, which I bought privately in 2013, was not fitted with a separate alarm when I got it..However, I believe it had been removed by the PO because it kept sounding. I suspect this was because there was a fault with the driver's door lock which caused it to sound...I replaced the door lock and ...

Re: anyone got a late SAIC/NAC TF with OEM remote boot opene
More great info Nick..thank you.. ..I've ordered the modified latch...and will now see if I can get the OEM switch...and relay...
Is that yellow relay in a TF?..or a ZR/ZS...can't quite make out where it's located...I guess somewhere behind the SCU?

Re: anyone got a late SAIC/NAC TF with OEM remote boot opene
Further information from Paul/Technozen: Attached are the relevant extracts from the SCU design notes....Post them if it will convince people that a relay IS required. BTW I did some further research regarding the location of the solenoid relay. On the 45/ZS it is a standard "Yellow" relay and is fi...

Re: anyone got a late SAIC/NAC TF with OEM remote boot opene
Response from Paul re the question of SCU internal relays.. "First, the diagram you sent is spot on. The relay terminals 86 and 30 can be connected together and fed from the 10A fuse. Yes, the relays used in the SCU can switch a 25 amp load however none of the internal SCU relays control the tailgat...

Re: anyone got a late SAIC/NAC TF with OEM remote boot opene
Looks like some really good progress is being made :D If I read what Nick's stated about the Pektron internal relays confirms my own thoughts: the internal relay should be adequate for the purpose of switching the lock release motor (it is not a solenoid). There is no extra external (to teh Pektron...

Re: anyone got a late SAIC/NAC TF with OEM remote boot opene
just heard back from Rimmers re the boot latch. LE500 boot latch is part number FQU100230 85th Anniversary and 135PS is 300000215 Rimmers don't hold stock of the 300000215 so the can't tell me what the difference is.. So it appears there is a difference..and hopefully that difference is the ability ...

Re: anyone got a late SAIC/NAC TF with OEM remote boot opene
The boot release solenoid is a type that uses an electric motor inside with gearing etc. Part number FUD100610 is a grey solenoid as in the picture and is a CDL type design for the Rover 200 / 25 / ZR tailgate. This is designed to have a reverse polarity for the locked and unlocked position. FUG000...

Re: anyone got a late SAIC/NAC TF with OEM remote boot opene
External relays can switch 10 amps using much less than a 300ma trigger...so it's an easy thing to wire up..

Re: Electric boot release wiring
The switch may not be capable of switching 15 amps..if you find one that can..better still use one rated at 20 amps you should be fine..just make sure the wires are sized accordingly..

Re: anyone got a late SAIC/NAC TF with OEM remote boot opene
The fuse may have a dual purpose - although on MG Rover TFs, F6 is not used. Hmm... a mystery! Time to follow those wires! Are you sure that the boot release mechanism uses a solenoid? I thought it was a motor? Sure looks like a solenoid to me... :D solenoid.jpg However even if it isn't a solenoid ...

Re: anyone got a late SAIC/NAC TF with OEM remote boot opene
I seriously doubt that the solenoid will pull less than 300ma which is the limit for the internal SCU relays according to Technozen...Paul has examined my SCU and has not been able to find anything that would contradict this..and the SCU is the same for all SAIC/NAC TFs...actually two part numbers I...

Re: anyone got a late SAIC/NAC TF with OEM remote boot opene
The mk2 ZS doesn't have a key lock, it only opens with either the 3 button remote or the lever by the drivers seat. The power for the popper is supplied through a single wire that comes from the BCU. The loom for the mk2 is very different to the mk1 (with 2 button lucas alarm). Rimmers list the ZS ...

Re: anyone got a late SAIC/NAC TF with OEM remote boot opene
It's probably the same methodology as used on the ZS....and replicates what happens when you open with a key...may even be the exact same mechanism used on both the ZS and the TF in which case the part numbers could be identical..

Re: Poly Bushes...Opinions?
- Is it worth doing just the fronts while the wishbones are off? IMO yes...replacing them later will mean that the front subframe needs to be dropped again..which is what needs to be done to fit the new wishbones...so while you are there..why not? Not sure whether its worth replacing with poly or s...
