Re: Excess air build up in cooling system
Cheers for that Jerry - will have another look at the weekend. Did not know about the 2nd jiggle valve but took the 'main' one apart and there does not seem anything inside that 90º housing which I thought was strange unless the ball sinks back into the main pipe below the bend but there does not se...

Re: where and whens the next pub meet?
Even though you can get good food and service at Lea Marston Leisure Centre, it has a bad reputation for cars been broken into so I would give that a miss unless the weather is fine to stay out with the cars ;) Some where around Kingsbury water park would be good. Nice area and easy access for most ...

Re: Excess air build up in cooling system
Car was bled correctly at the garage or so I believe. They are not MG specialists but do know their way around F's. I have rebled fully and the system seems better but it is still not right. I checked the 'jiggle' valve at the end of the pipe from the expansion tank - a question though - should ther...

Re: where and whens the next pub meet?
Last time I spoke to Steve, we were chatting around a Sunday pub meet, maybe some where over Birmingham/Sutton way as we seem to have a growing sub group over there now. Watch this space. Was hoping to get out for a run myself over xmas but the car has played up a little so don't trust it to go too ...

Re: Excess air build up in cooling system
Thanks for the answers so far. Will try booking the car back in for a leak check ASAP at the garage. All gaskets were changed as the replacement engine was installed as the engine was overhauled before it was put in, so assume that these should not be causing the problems but you never know. Will at...

Excess air build up in cooling system
As many of you know, I had to have a replacement engine after my original one blew a couple of valve ends destroying the engine. All seemed fine with the new engine other than the cooling system showing 'erratic' temperatures at times. For some reason it did not stay stable and once the car stopped,...

Re: FAO Keith
Have changed my cap just in case but the pressure seems to be held OK in the system so don't think this is the problem with mine. Car is into the garage this afternoon for a once over on the cooling system. Just getting it in before they close up for the holidays. update: car was looked at in garage...

Re: FAO Keith
Hi Pete Not so bad but not quite perfect yet. Did xmas natter and car was fine and went to Alan & Jeanette's wedding at Wookey and the temperature reading was slightly suspect on way down even though nothing seemed a miss with the coolant etc. but it soon settled down. Did get a rapid rise in temp j...

Rover auction - last ones?
Spotted this is in Sunday paper (hate to admit it but it was the News of the World) Three Rover motors go on sale this Friday (21st) - three years after they came off the production line. Seems they have been in storage since MG Rover went bust in 2004. Cars will be sold at British Car Auctions in B...

Congratulations to Alan & Jeanette
Alan & Jeanette got married on Friday down in the caves at Wookey Hole. Their F & TF, complete with skull logos and 666 registration plates took pride of place at the wedding along with a few other cars who came along for the fun. http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/kwil35/AlanJeanettsWedding Best wishes ...

Re: Update on engine replacement for my F
I was surprised with the attitude of Rover Breakers, Hull but hopefully can just chalk it up to experience. Hopefully it was a one off problem with then but just be cautious if any one has dealings with them. Spoke too soon :( Mobile - what is that again? Would you believe it, the alternator failed ...

Re: Welcome to the Midlands region
Oh yes, I remember the grocers in Station road....on the right hand side going up the hill, two or three shops after the news agents.....sorry, going down memory lane now  Well the memory slips with time - Badgerys was on the corner of Johnson Road on the left going up to the Station from Grav...

Re: Update on engine replacement for my F
:D :D :D = Says it all really. At last today got mobile again - it has been a long time coming. All seems fine (other than a slight tapping noise which the garage could not isolate fully - hopefully will bed in) and a 'new' clutch to get used to. After a real bad false start with engine 1 and the in...

Re: The Runs & Camping
After helping organise the HoE run this year, adding in the 'organisation' of a camping weekend as an extra would be a little over the top but does not mean that a few like minded people could not organise it between themselves. Most of the day runs this year had the potential stay in a hotel close ...

Re: November natter Wed 14th
Steve - it would be good to get to the meet. My car won't be on the road by Wednesday night sadly. Engine arriving, if all goes to plan, Tuesday, so won't be in the car by then. Hopefully fitted in the next week or so after that or when ever garage can book me in. Should be mobile by the xmas natter...

Update on engine replacement for my F
Some of you may remember seeing my engine pictures on the old forum after the valves had given way on one cylinder. It has been a slow painfull time from the end of September until today resulting in the car still been off the road. The replacement engine I was purchasing from Rover Breakers Ltd in ...

Re: Welcome to the Midlands region
Well if you go any where in the world every one seems to have heard of Erdington or know someone from there
I do remember that photographic shop on the corner of South Road. My family ran the grocers in Station Road for many a year - Badgery's. So an even smaller world. lol
