and looking at the clamp side. P1010395.JPG This is how the new clamp looks with nice curvy ends..courtesy of my Dremel.... P1010397.JPG At this point I fitted the Slickshift bell crank at the gearbox end. I Followed Mike's written instructions....screwed the ends on 7 turns (out of 18 available so ...

Re: LE 500 GEAR CHANGE
Here is the new end plate in position.. P1010364.JPG ...and bolted up to the Slickshift end plate..I briefly flirted with cutting the original end plate off and welding on the new one but it was easier and quickest to just bolt them together and relieve bits of the old plate which would otherwise ge...

Re: LE 500 GEAR CHANGE
Yup...that works..the Slickshift swivel ends fit nicely 1.jpg Now, in order to fit the LE500 cables to the Slickshift we also need to mod the end plate..Fortunately, the LE500 cables need a 24mm hole to fit. The MGR cables need a 23.5 hole to fit so...we need a new end plate with 2 x 24mm holes in t...

Re: LE 500 GEAR CHANGE
As an aside note that the Slickshift stick is about 1” shorter than the standard LE500 stick P1010269.jpg P1010270.jpg Anyway...thinking about fitting the Slickshift I really did not want to replace the cables. My cables were pretty young and I prefer the way they fit to the end plate..Much better t...

Re: LE 500 GEAR CHANGE
Here is my write up on how to fit the Mike Satur Slickshift to an LE500 without replacing the gear cables.. My LE500 has only done about 13k miles. Nevertheless the gear change is woolly, wobbly and imprecise. The stick is also a tad longer than I would prefer. I've read numerous accounts of others ...

Re: LE 500 GEAR CHANGE
I don't know..He was quite interested in the solution before I started and I posted him afterwards with the links and posed the question but so far I haven't heard from him..Its never a quick process to change design so I suspect he is still thinking about it..Before Christmas he had a lot on his pl...

Re: LE 500 GEAR CHANGE
As the person who did this I can say that it is possible and not too difficult. The gear change is much improved as a result. Although this is a solution for the LE500 I expect that it would work equally well with any SAIC/NAC sourced TF. The solution is to fabricate a new end plate for the Slickshi...
