Re: Im new!
Morning, Rob, is it THAT noisy? With my VVC-powered car (Lilibet) it's still okay to turn the stereo up a little  The head gasket is something to worry about in general, yet not in particular every day. As long as you stick to the rules, you will probably be driving many miles before it blows. ...
Re: Im new!
Wow, Rob, that one looks gorgeous, Tahiti Blue, isn't it? Don't worry about the tapping/ticking sound, this is normal for a VVC. Changing the cam belts is definitely not an easy job, although the engine can stay in its place. Yet they are awful to get to and special tools are needed to block the cam...

Re: lighting issue
Ha, Derrick, this might even be the cause for the fuse blowing in the first place. Please check if you have 12V present at the bulb, this would mean sth is wrong with the earthing in the rear lamp assembly. If no voltage arrives at the bulb, check the red/black wire at the rear lamp unit's connector...
Re: Im new!
Congrats Rob! When the wash&polish session is done (weekend?) I'm afraid you can't leave us without a decent set of photos here  . VVC models had ABS fitted as standard, were usually trimmed with half leather seats (some with full leather upgrade) and were put on 5-spoke 16" alloys (up to MY199...

That sounds soothing actually, thanks a lot Rob! Yet the thing is to get to that bl**dy thing, could hardly take a photo to proof it, even with the MAP sensor off again: _IMG_0120.jpg And that was only with the Phone. Somebody has to suffer for this, I demand severe punishment! Mailed the blokes a r...

Re: lighting issue
Right said Rob, sometimes an iPad can come quite handy. And I got all those nasty electronic copies on it. But before Keith is gonna fry me now, please rest assured that a decent hard copy workshop manual is present as well.

Re: what collor would you like best for your car!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lilibet came in BRG with beige interior, the classic one and I like it very much indeed. Yet now, after a couple of months on the forums I'd actually go for other colours as well: volcano orange nightfire red tahiti blue old English white are my favourites So maybe I should go and find a suitable ga...

Re: mgf
Thanks guys, yet I'm afraid the real cause of the problem may be found. Although nothing any of us would have ever thought of. I have to go back in time a bit ... after having changed brake disks in February, I was puzzled to find an M8 nut on the driver's floor mat right after returning from the DI...
Re: Im new!
Hi Rob, welcome to the forum, I'm sure you'll find a summer's companion quite soon. Just have a look at the Members Classifieds section, there are at least two interesting offers not far from you. One is a silver VVC in the Yorkshire region, the other a nightfire red MPi with just 45.000 miles just ...

Re: lighting issue
Will the boxes you mention be on the workshop manual disk? No, Derrick, I'm afraid they won't. The workshop manual deals with taking modules out and putting new ones in, it doesn't actually go into the secrets of wiring. There's two other manuals to get hands on, the electrical library and the wiri...

Re: lighting issue
Had another look at the wiring plan. The output from fuse #8 goes via 3 completely different connectors, one to the n/s sidelamp, the next to the instrument bulbs/dimmer and the last one to a header joint, from where everything else is fed, like n/s tail light, number plate, dashboard controls, cloc...

Re: lighting issue
Hi Derrick, the fuse in question is #8 in the interior fusebox. If this one is known good (don't just look), then I suppose the fault is either in the wiring from the lights switch to the fusebox or in the box itself, the latter being rather unusual though. The cables to the front side lamps and the...

OK well that's cool, not a big problem then! I best get back onto it - do you know the correct sequence for bleeding them? I did o/s r, n/s r, o/s f, n/s f Had a look at the w/s manual, correct sequence should be n/s r, o/s r, o/s f, n/s f. The big AP calipers on Trophy models have two bleed nipple...

Haha! I almost made it today :thumbsu: 365 miles before visiting the Favourite Multinational Company's Branch Office  This was during a long-distance drive to Frankfurt and back on the A3 motorway (up- and downhill most of the time) at a moderate speed of 80-90 mph. The only downside being that...

Re: Interior lights
Well Jon,
this may be cheap but labour-intensive I'd suggest to take the little darlings out, dismember them, give everything a good clean & grease and reassemble. Bit fiddly I'm afraid, but that's what we MG enthusiasts love about our cars, isn't it?
Cheers

Re: 400 Miles from a full tank, is this normal?
On average, I'm refilling every 320 miles, having to put between 43 and 44 litres in the tank. That's 32.7 mpg.
400 miles from one tank? That'd be paradise!
