Re: Soft top renovation
I wouldn't panic about rainfall on the hood once it's been cleaned.
The fact that the water isn't beading does not mean it's not waterproof. It's not like a canvas tent - there's an interlayer in the hood material that is waterproof.
Rarely do I proof my hood, and it remains fully watertight.

Is the secondhand one yellow?
That's the colour of the bolt that I bought for the same purpose, and may help people identify the correct part ...

Re: wet carpet
Made some progess - fingers crossed! I used Capt Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure to seal three places. 1. Around the grommet where the bonnet release cable comes up from the footwell into the bonnet area. 2. Around the two offside bonnet hinge mounting bolts. 3. Along the edge of the moulding that meet...

Re: wet carpet
I have a similar problem with my 2004 TF ...
Water seems to be running down from above the fuse box area, and down the angle between the inner side of the A-post and front bulkhead.
I'm going to investigate further tomorrow, but suspects include the bonnet hinge mounts or an improperly sealed seam.

Vent mount for GPS
Has anyone used such a mount in a TF?
If so, what make, and how well did it work?
Thanks
Chris

That would be usefulRob Bell wrote:I had a spare tank - not sure what's happened to it? Had to move the parts from the donor car from the in-law's to my garage, and can't remember seeing it... might be educational to open it up to see how fuel "communicates" from one side to the other.

Re: Engine access thought???
Running a quick right turn does indeed bring new life to the needle ... quite easy on roundabouts, but only in RHD countries. On the Continent, we have to resort to motorway slip roads - or even better - a full turn on a cloverleaf junction. Good point! So presumably the fuel tank float (for the fu...

Re: Engine access thought???
That seems daft ... Surely the tendency would be for the fuel to move from the higher part of the tank to the lower. So if you're running low on fuel, slow driving isn't the answer! In fact you need to go round a roundabout fairly vigorously to get all the fuel transferred to the nearside. Is the TF...

How is fuel pickup managed with a tank that's effectively in two sections?

Re: TF badges
Has anybody tried these? http://www.mymgcar.com/shop/product.php?productid=16727&cat=0&page=&featured=Y Yep - they're resin fronted, metal backed, with two pins sticking out of the back to help fix it on to the car, and also a sticky strip round the outside to help it stick too. They're just the sa...
