Re: Random Alarm calls

You could try checking the wire connections in the front door locks as they can get dirty/corroded (2pin one) or check the boot wires as they can break

Re: 1.8i 0-60 how-to

0-60 times are set by dumping the clutch and not easy to replicate! Unless the car has launch control!! Bit of a nonsense really you can break the clutch doing it as well! You also have to rev to the red line as changing gear to early looses time.
Have fun!

Re: 1995 MGF up for auction 1st June

My car is slightly older than yours and yes I would of loved to of bought one brand new in 1995 but finances dictated not! Instead I kept on looking at them through showroom windows longingly until I found one I liked and could afford! And yes l remember the frustration when looking at the first sec...

Re: 1995 MGF up for auction 1st June

Well I remember clearly as I bought mine in 2001! I guess it was dealers prices and mine was low mileage and half a years difference but still I don't remember seeing any less than £9000 back then. They did gradually go down and by 2005 when mg rover went under that's when they really dropped. But I...

Re: Gone and done it part 2

There are two parts to suspension sphere on the f. The fluid that sets the height and the gas that is the bit that gives suspension movement. The gas is sealed in the top of the sphere with a rubber membrane between it and the fluid but this depletes over time so you are left with a hard ride. Your ...

Re: Gone and done it part 2

Err the f should have supple suspension even with 16"wheels if it is hard I would suggest that you have low amount of gas left in your spheres! I would suggest that it would be a good idea to get the gas refilled.
There are various places who can do it Ian & dawn Kennedy are one.

Re: I'm getting strong fuel smells in my MGF cockpit any suggestions?

It's a question of trying to track down the source. I would suggest taking the engine cover off and check all fuel lines. Also check the fuel pump are!
Good luck!

Re: Suspension

The spheres that the suspension are made up from, can loose the gas and then they start to leak fluid or it could be a pipe leaking. Probably a typo here, but loosing gas is quite different from loosing hydralastic fluid. The failure mode here is quite common - usually a rear sphere, often the offs...

Did your suspension feel hard when pumped up?
This could mean you could need a replacement sphere!
