Re: Warning light on dash
Orange warning lights are warnings or advice, red ones are panic.

Re: new arrival bistec
Hi
I know if I worthy to say "and welcome" yet as I only joined recently.
I would also suggest the squel is proberbly the alternator if the car has been standing for a while, I'd give the battery a charge from a charger to bring it up to full and see if that helps.

I assume this is a 1.8i judging by the wheels.

Re: KV6 in an MGF
You may even consider a different set of ratios for the box, there is a wealth of information on the PG1 on http://www.rovertech.net . I know - I wrote some of it :) As for ratios - I'm quite likely to keep the ZS180 ones, the FD ratio is a little higher as the engine is much more torquey. As the g...

Re: Is it that much quicker?
We had a look at a 1.8i yesterday, apparently the HG had been done, receipts to prove etc but the header tank was basically empty except for a thin layer of oil! and the dip stick showed little oil! Then boyfriend came home and said there were no receipts as his had had done it, I left wondering if ...

Re: Is it that much quicker?
:thumbsu: You won't find a VVC without EPAS, they all had it. That's why we're going to stick out for the VVC. Whether you notice much of a difference between a 1.8 and VVC on the road will depend a lot on how you drive - and unless you exploit the top end of the rev-range, there really isn't a grea...

Re: Re Chip MGF vvc
A lot of places use a generic map.
There is a guy at http://reidyremaps.co.uk/ who does live mapping and brings everything togeather nicely, he's done several KV6's and is highly recomended on the MGZS forum.

Re: KV6 in an MGF
Nice project, nice write up and plenty of photos. You can get a KV6 through the MOT with the main cat removed because it has precats in the manifolds, however once you remove these as well by fitting the janspeed manifolds the car fails, on the ZS180 folks get around this by refitting the main cat f...

Re: Alloy wheels
http://www.wheelrefurbishing.co.uk/index.htm are highly recomended, I've not used them myself yet but I've got a set of VVC 5 spokes and some toyo T1R's in my garage waiting for a chance to get them there to go on my T16 maestro.

Re: Is it that much quicker?
Thanks for the info. I think we'll stick out for a VVC. In the journey I do to work I reqularly use the extra power of the "VIS" on my ZS180 so I think the extra oomph of the VVC will be useful. And I do like knowing I have the little bit of extra power at the top when I want it. As we are looking a...

Is it that much quicker?
We are looking for a cheapish MGF as our first venture into 2 seaters.
As we already have a MGZS180 (V6) and a MGZR160 (VVC) naturally we were going for a VVC, however there are many more of the non VVC's available in our price range so I was wondering how much difference it will actually make.
