Re: Fitting the VHS Bilstein Comfort kit and the 85th Annive
6. Use standard nuts to drift in the sleeve P1020226.JPG 7. Replace standard nuts with nylocs and tighten finger tight 8. Jack up the hub so that this corner comes off the axle stand 9. Tighten both nuts to 100Nm/74 ft lbs P1020228.JPG 10. Release jack I believe that torquing up the suspension whils...

Re: Fitting the VHS Bilstein Comfort kit and the 85th Annive
12. Trial fit the bolts into the top arm before final fitting. This is to avoid the situation where they don't locate sufficiently far into the recess and then the damper isn't fixed properly and the bolts fail. They should be a snug fit. P1020218.JPG P1020219.JPG 13. Sequence of fitting 1. Place da...

Re: Fitting the VHS Bilstein Comfort kit and the 85th Annive
10. There is an unexplainably large >1mm clearance gap or slop between the bolts and the damper bush P1020200.JPG 1. Bolts are ~ 11.7mm diameter, nominally I guess 12mm OD 2. Damper bush is 13mm ID 3. Damper bolts on this and all previous models were the same - nominally 12mm OD and damper bushes we...

Re: Fitting the VHS Bilstein Comfort kit and the 85th Annive
6. My front damper units were fitted with an extra rubber bush. I did not fit an extra bush when I built up the Bilsteins P1020193.JPG P1020191.JPG 7. I fitted poly bushes, cheapest from Rimmers @ £2.50 each- http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-RNF100090LPOLY 8. I fitted them all taper to taper even...

Fitting the VHS Bilstein Comfort kit and the 85th ARBs
There are at least 2 How To's covering the replacement of TF dampers on various fora so I'm not going to attempt to better those efforts. However, I did discover a few things in the upgrade of my LE500 to 85th Anniversary spec suspension which might be of use to others. So I'm posting this as a coll...

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Over the past few days I've fitted a VHS Ride Improvement Kit and the 85th Anniversary ARB kit to my LE500. I've learned a few things. I may have the old dampers and ARBs available later if anyone can find a use for them. I still have to rust proof the rear subframe and refit my Daytona back box bef...

Re: which tyres ?
He didnt indicate what, if any testing had been done but he did say they sent a set to Brown & Gammon to try on one of their cars & they felt they were ok. My issue with that is, the guy who tested them may not drive a TF on a day to day basis, did they compare them to a TF with good tyres etc?? He...

Re: which tyres ?
Thanks Slippy..
I wonder why the 0.5psi is significant...why not 30psi or 31psi?....did Alan say what testing they had performed to arrive at these figures?

Re: which tyres ?
On a TF with 16" wheels, Toyo recommended 25 psi on the front & 30.5 psi at the rear to try to combat the poor handling issue. Personally I dont think Toyo should be advising people to deviate from MG recommended pressures. I've not seen that documented anywhere...not doubting you at all but is it ...

Because it is so obviously wrong I think I must have missed some subtle reason for it....maybe not..

Re: Shocker bolt
At last!..someone else who thinks this rattling good fit isn't good in any way, shape or form. Yes, the damper bush does fit inside the top arm..and I suspect that is the reason why the unnecessarily large clearance doesn't cause an issue. Otherwise torque relaxation would cause the bolt to snap pre...

Re: Shocker bushes
umm..interesting..well there is a bump stop fitted on each damper so I am assuming it's the right one.
I bought the kit from the MGOC because I got fed up waiting for a reply from VHS..although the did respond eventually..but too late..

Shocker bolt
I am replacing the standard suspension on my LE500 with the VHS Comfort Pack Bilsteins. The Chinese TFs have different bottom mounting bolts - this is irrelevant to the issue I'm bringing up but are shown here as a matter of interest. P1020197.JPG The hole in the bottom damper bush is 13mm ID. This ...

Shocker bushes
I am replacing the standard suspension on my LE500 with the VHS Comfort Pack Bilsteins. I ordered poly bushes (2x of RNF100090 LPOLY ) for each damper to replace the 2 x RNF100090 that will no doubt be past their best. The Rimmers diagram for both the MGR TF and the later Chinese versions show only ...

Might be worthwhile a quick call to Paul at http://www.technozen-electronics.co.uk/ ... are-parts/
What he doesn't know about reprogramming the SCU isn't worth knowing.
He is a member on here but don't think he posts much (technozen)
