Re: Colour polish, which one is best?

I have found out now from the Chipex site that if you know the name of the colour and you enter both this and the manufacturers name, in this case Rover, then that is enough for them to give the paint code. My kit is now ordered, thanks once again to Ian.

Re: Colour polish, which one is best?

Sorry to say but colour polish will do nothing for your stone chips, it's good for hiding swirls or light scratches but if this is the case then I would recommend Autoglym Super Resin Polish which fills these in. You can buy a colour coded pen or contact Chipex who have an excellent kit colour code...

Re: Brakes that have little or no feel......... dead?

The OEM calipers are single piston and rely on the "dead" side floating in order to squeeze both sides of the disc. Thanks for that nugget of good advice, having previously owned a LR Defender, I know all about stripping down and rebuilding calipers, it is good of you to remind me, many thanks. Str...

Colour polish, which one is best?

The 'F' I have just bought is in the dark metallic 'tahiti' blue and it shines as brightly as the day it rolled off the production line, however there are some very small, hardly noticeable chips in the paint, both on the leading edge of the nose as well as on both of the side air intakes. Not one o...

Re: Brakes that have little or no feel......... dead?

If the old boy never used the brakes hard, the pads are more than likely glazed...they cost peanuts so rather than mess about I would fit a new set and change the fluid to see if that brings some life to the pedal Agreed Gedge and of course Talkingcars, that is my plan of action along with fitting ...

Brakes that have little or no feel......... dead?

I picked up my almost unbelievably gorgeous, low mileage, 2001 'F' on Saturday and drove it back from Solihull top down to close to Grantham with a bloody enormous grin over my chubby little cheeks :D , but during that drive there was one thing that somewhat perplexed me and that was the feel of the...

Re: Condensation in oil temp gauge?

Mine does it as well from time to time, but running with the sidelights on heats things up and removes the misting (providing you haven't gone LED of course) Today was the first time I had driven 'Madge' on her way to her new home overlooking the birthplace of the Sir Issac Newton, i.e. the man who...

Condensation in oil temp gauge?

My 2001 'F' has a slight amount of misting/condensation inside the oil temperature gauge, is there an easy way of getting rid of it or is it a new gauge and heaven knows how to get at it??

Re: hello from the North

90 smackers, gaud I very nearly passed out on reading that nugget of information! Is the car in as good a condition as it looks to be? I have just bought a very low mileage 2001, 1 owner 'F' with full service history and every receipt (including the original purchase data) from day one, I was assure...

Re: Replacement Exhaust System MGTF

I've used Klarius exhausts on my previous F and my latest '05 TF. They've both been well-built and the seem to me to be the best value I've managed to find at little more than £100 delivered. Blimey, I have just found this Klarius exhaust for the 'F' on eBay for just £85 of my hard earned! https://...

Re: The best WORKSHOP manual is?

Be warned that the Rover manual is an work of art that requires it to be understood. After that it's great. Unlike the Haynes books, they have taken great efforts to on write everything ONCE. It just takes some getting used to. Thanks for that advice most especially as it comes from down under. Ove...

Re: Replacement Exhaust System

tongu05I think I know the eBayer who sells the stainless steel exhausts, I made contact with them and asked where they were made and was told China. Now they might be truly excellent quality products, but until I know how good or possibly they are I will be keeping my hard earned in my pocket the re...

The best WORKSHOP manual is?

I finally got around to buying an 'F' yesterday, a 2001, one owner from new, every receipt from new, 33,000 miles, never used in the wet, the underside of the entire body shines almost as much as the top side etc. etc. and a darned good price as well, so well chuffed. However back to the subject of ...

Re: Tyre pressures

Technically speaking if you do run tyre pressures different to those specified by the manufacturers then that is a modification and you should notify your insurance company as such! I know this might seem bonkers, but in my commercial past I used to do a lot of technical work for several of the Worl...

Re: Rust Prevention

Did they drill any holes into the inner sections of the sill areas on both side and inject the magical Dinitrol into it, as well as of course the bottom inside of the doors? As an ex Land Rover Series and Defender owner I know only too well that it is equally important to do the insides as the outsi...
