Re: Gear cable snapped

I was a bit of a faff but I now have assembled as so as it made the most sense and feels very good (at least as it is currently off the car In total I had; the plastic threaded piece to the rear to go with the 13mm nut the two copper sleeves 2 10mm nuts and 13mm nut 2 washers with larger centre diam...

Re: tf 115 clutch issue.

Yeah that's why I was thinking seized arm but anything is worth a go if only to eliminate it as a cause

I wouldn't know how diagnose if a whole new clutch was required I'll leave that to someone who's been there as my clutch problems were all seal related

talkingcars wrote:If you attach a string or thin cable to the gearbox end of the cable before pulling it through you should be able to use this as a draw cord to pull the new cable back (not that I have tried).
That's a brilliant idea, I'll certinaly be doing so as that'll save a hell of a faff! :D

Re: tf 115 clutch issue.

Have you detached the clevis pin from the Slave and tried to shift the arm by hand? You should get a distinct "clunk" to indicate it's shifte That's a way to eliminate the possibility of a seized arm more reliably as the slave can still be moving on its mountings if the arm is seized in the gearbox ...

Re: Gear cable snapped

Can anyone help? More on the gear assembly, I've taken the whole assembly out to clean it and some washers dropped out of crevices when I'd been careful to take everything off in the right order I've got them layed out like this at the moment; with the thrust washer still on, does this look right to...

Re: Gear cable snapped

Well deciding to leave the plate for now and crack on with the the rest I've gone ahead and dismantled the interior and removed the gear assembly. I think while it's off I may replace that washer we discussed previously as well as the others if all the sizes are listed in the link you sent me I trie...

Re: tf 115 clutch issue.

I'm not an expert but could this be a seized clutch arm?
Sometimes the arm can seize in the gearbox, have a search through the forum for more info but that could be an explanation!

Re: Selling TTMK4/3 exhaust/ also MGFVVC97BRG - spares/repair

If the exhaust is still around in September in coming up to Scotland so could possibly collect - would love to see some pics and is it for the MK1 or MK2 exhaust set up?

Re: Gear cable snapped

I do yes! I've got one left in there so I'll unscrew it and check, although I've got all the screws off that I need to and am just struggling getting the cable grommets out of the plate so that I can remove it

Re: Gear cable snapped

I'm dragging this up from the past as my gear cable has just snapped, and I'm planning to replace the access plate at the same time - BUT I cannot for the life of my find anywhere the size of the bolts, I've found the two parts on rimmers. Call the AA if you're with them? They should be able to get the boot open for you, they did for me when I locked my keys in there!

Re: MGF Hydragas Knuckle Joint

Thanks for all of the information, my garage is only round the corner and has the pump to refill the spheres so I may go down the empty milk bottle route to depressurise and then call him over to pump it up once I've fitted the new knuckle Seems like the most sensible route given the above, unless s...

MGF Hydragas Knuckle Joint

Hi All, So my knuckle joint is knackered (pics to follow) Now I've noticed that when on the floor the knuckle is quite clearly not in place on the lower arm...now my question is has anyone ever swapped one of these without depressurising the hydragas? I ask because I'd rather not pay anyone to do it...
