Re: Need to meet up with an early VVC owner.

I need to find cars on which the unit doesn't work well (i.e. live data unreliable when the engine is running). From what you are saying your car isn't one of them.

It seems that I will have to keep harassing Marty.

Re: Need to meet up with an early VVC owner.

I have a mk1 VVC but it is a '99 model. James James don't you already have one of my pscan.eu interfaces? Have you tried live data with the engine running on your cars? By the way, Philip, any plans on addressing that unit as well in pscan, as to enable boot lid opener or coolant level alarm on the...

Re: Need to meet up with an early VVC owner.

I have been to visit Marty a couple of times, and he has been very helpful but I still haven't gotten to the bottom of the problems with the MEMS2J on VVC MGFs.

Is there anyone closer to North or West London, Bucks or Herts on here?

Need to meet up with an early VVC owner.

I have a customer with a 1996 VVC and we are having some issues with the diagnostic protocol. It appears that the protocol is reliable on the later ones which have MKC104001 on them, whilst it is not on the early ones that have MKC104000 on them. I am guessing there will be a timing difference with ...

Fuel temp and ambient air temp sensors?

Can anyone tell me, do any MGFs have fuel temp sensors or air temp sensors? I am getting comments from customers that error codes associated with these are being shown and my suspicion is that actually they weren't normally fitted but Rover forgot to remove them from the ECUs firmware. Does anyone k...

Re: can anyone lend me a MKC104111 ECU ?

I don't think that they all had the same part number. I already have one off of a Lotus Elise but I think that it is a later variant.
If you have one with MKC104111 on then yes I would like to borrow it.

can anyone lend me a MKC104111 ECU ?

I have a MKC104112 ECU which is working perfectly on the diagnostics software, however a customer has MKC104111 and it is not. If anyone one has one of these ECUs spare please could I borrow it for a few weeks?

thanks, Philip

Web interface on a scan tool: Houston we have a problem

One of the things that I have been looking at with the MG Rover diagnostic tool is the possibility of building a web server into it. This would allow me to market to customers with Android / Apple phones and tablets without needing to develop an actual Android or IOS app. However it would appear tha...

MG Rover diagnostic tool; last two days on Kickstarter

I have had a lot of support for my diagnostics tool from the MGF community, particularly from this forum. I do appreciate it and would like to say thanks to everyone who has been involved. As a consequence this tool works particularly well on the MGF. I think that I only have the power steering and ...

Re: OBD Socket (and details of MGF technical day - June 15th

Which is step 5 in my instructions.

To be exact though it is testing the ECU's view of the sensor and not the sensor itself.

Re: OBD Socket (and details of MGF technical day - June 15th

No it doesn't do that. To be honest you can do that with a digital voltmeter by testing the resistance of the sensor at various temperatures. In fact I would not advise anyone to pull and change a sensor purely based on an error code. A good procedure would possibly go like this:- 1. Read the error ...

Yes I did. I'm currently trying to crack the cryptographic login protocol that the KV6 ECU uses. Is it from a 75 ?

Re: OBD Socket (and details of MGF technical day - June 15th

According to the menus in my Bosch KTS the RV8 is a MEMS1.9 or MEMS2J.
I don't think that I believe it though.

Re: OBD Socket (and details of MGF technical day - June 15th

OK I have what is probably a really dopy question - I can see the advantage of identifying the faults but if, for instance, it says a sensor is faulty, surely eliminating the fault code doesn't eliminate the fault itself? In general you are correct. Error codes allow you to narrow the fault down, s...

Re: OBD Socket (and details of MGF technical day - June 15th

I think I have a demo that I could with the Pi in a car park. No pressure or anything...

It works well with the pi exporting its screen to my laptop, and it is just about usable on my phone. I'll have to see if my wife will lend me her new tablet...
