Re: MGF Kempenrit - July 5th 2020
Due to the all too well known issue, the Kempenrit is postphoned to 2021: July 4th. As dropped inmy mailbox today: Dear MG lovers, As we have seen for many weeks now, the corona virus is everywhere. Because of this, all planned MG events are either cancelled or moved to a later date. After thorough ...

Re: MG TF Engine bay cooling fan relay
Does your engine bay really get that hot though Kasper? It was originally tested in Death Valley with ambient temperatures of 40C, so a gentle trip to Italy shouldn't really cause major issues? Otherwise, there are ways to improve cooling by improving air flow into and out of the engine bay? That s...

Re: MG TF Engine bay cooling fan relay
Thanks guys for your support, could go for the simple solution, keep on thinking on that one. Just checked the E-diagrams and realised it is probably the only way to trigger the function, although it would be much more neat to trigger the relay direct. The switch will be near the gear stick, probabl...

Re: MG TF Engine bay cooling fan relay
Not trying to hijack this tread: But would it be possible to hook up a parallel feed to this relay in order to have a manual switch to have this fan running? And what would be the best route to hook up a manual switch? I'm very much aware it is controlled by the temperature sensor in the engine bay ...

Re: battery isolator
The down side of this is that it does not prevent the battery from draining.talkingcars wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 10:22 pmAlternatively you can get a device that restricts power available from the battery to prevent starting.

Re: battery isolator
got an isolator on all my MG's including a Mk1 F and a 2005 TF. So there will be no doubt you can. My cars usually have a battery that will last for about a week, leaving the car in the garage unused. So there is my ground to have one fitted. Pro: 1. Your battery will not drain, it will last a stand...

Re: MGF Kempenrit - July 5th 2020
Hopefully I've entered today - just got to sort out the travel. A large number of The Kempenrit events used to have a twinned event called "The day Before" Some people from Flanders and an occasional Dutchman accompanied a convoy of British MGF's and TF's. Just across the Belgian border at exit 3 o...

Re: TF Battery drain
Ditto all the above. Because my TF tends to now only be used on high days, holidays and for the occasional track day, I fitted a battery isolator switch. No issues now even though the car is often unused for several weeks at a time - especially this time of year! :thumbsu: That is the convenient wa...

Re: TF Battery drain
Disconnect the battery and then lock the car manually with the key. I would do exactly the same. In fact I do this during winter season as a standard solution. no problems with memory in the alarm system 9it is not that clever ;) ) in normal use the battery in my F and TF only survive for about a w...

Re: How good is the MGF - V - BMW S1000 motor bike!!
Ahmmm, speechless.... MGFvvc, a bit tweaked on the drive, lets say about 160 HP, next to it: BMW1200S, a predecessor of the S1000. About the same amount of horses on board: 168. So you could say I know them both. And you tell me the F equals the BMW? Guess you're a pretty good driver then to avoid c...

Re: Cruise control.
Well the stalk looks pretty much identical to the ones fitted in the Rover 600, 400 and 45 series. As far as I can remember there is one in our Dutch Registrars car too, that one is dealers fit AFAIK. And I would say it is an original.

Re: Hardtop lining
We'll it is clear I'll put it back in, at least for the TF as that car should give me the "Luxory" feeling, thus it needs one. I'll try to get some nice cloth at the MG carshow in Houten next January.
For the F, I'm not convinced, like project shed: it does'n make the car any faster

Re: Hardtop lining
Used your guide some time ago, as the liner of the TF came down on my head. (don't want to check the status of the F's hardtop) Removing the liner makes me wonder why should I put on new cloth and refit it? Yes, now I have a Black roof above my heat and not a white-ish one, who bothers? Ok, the surf...
