Oh yes, I know the central plate that you mean - box section type thing - pictured here removed from the car:
But there's another one you say?

Re: Mgf Pumpup, fluid advice please.
Don't use an oil-based fluid. Similarly Citroen fluid shouldn't be used either. Wrong voscosity.
Knocking up your own fluid with meths and ethylene glycol antifreeze would be a good alternative I think, if you can't get the proper Hydralastic fluid from your British Car Parts supplier.

Re: 52mm throttle body, worth it?
Completely agree with what Steve's said. 56mm TBs are pointless on an effectively standard 1.8 litre engine, and the 52mm gives just minor benefits in power. On my 1.8MPi for example, I saw only a 1 bhp gain, but the car certainly felt a good deal sharper to drive, which is nice: http://www.mgf.ulti...

Re: alternative running gear
Hi Rob, I can keep the caster and toe in the same or re-adjust it back to the standard settings, but the camber is going to change as I lean the struts in, to amend this I intend making up a bracket to gain adjustment for this, I can't measure anything without the the struts attached as the hubs ju...

Re: power steering
The EPAS ECU is located on the passenger side, behind the cross member which runs behind the passenger airbag (or airbag blanking panel). Best place to access the ECU is by removing the glove box, which will enable access from underneath. I'd remove all the connectors, clean with contact cleaner, an...

Hi Jon, I haven't got an MGF to sell you, but for those interested, what's your budget, and are there any pictures of the Midget? It's a 1500 rubber bumper car - cracking little motors!

Re: Coolant leak, well more of a gush!
Well, I am sure that there must be a few 'Barry boy' Minis out there - but I rather like the period cars, with Downton engines and subtle interior mods - and the sprintex Minis looked rather good (and subtle, with an inch or two out of their glass house height)...

Welcome to the forum Jon - hope you're successful with your quest
Good suggestion there from John - often plenty of cars for sale in the Classifieds section, and I am sure that there will be responses to a wanted ad. Good luck

If I got a 1990s Mini, I'd buy the best one I could find, rust-proof it, and then modify! Massive Mini scene as you know, and the draw of "the Darkside" is even stronger there than it is with MGFs!
Some really gorgeous cars out there. Have fun!

Re: The immobiliser on my MGF has stopped coming on
Hi and welcome to the forum!
Interesting problem. What age is your MGF? Are the doors locking correctly with the key fob? Is the deadlock function working?
Daft question, but how do you know the immobiliser isn't activating?
Hopefully this is something simple

Wish I could have been at the AGM Adrian - Alan's talk sounds really informative. As it happens, I was under the rear wheel arch of my car fitting a replacement hydragas sphere! Not heard of these body plates before though? Hinge pins I'd do as mgtfnut suggests - get Mike Satur replacement ins...

Someone nicked my Mk1, 1967 Austin 'Delux' Mini  Beautiful cars, love them to pieces. Before I restored it, it was falling to pieces... Not had a chance to replace it though. Mind you, I think that my current car fleet of one MG ZTT, two MGFs and a Triumph Spitfire Mk3 is probably more t...

Here's an example I found last night whilst modifying my interior door handles. Note the peg at the rear is missing although it doesn't actually seem to make much difference. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u75/MartinW_photos/MG%20pictures/2011_Mar_75_TF_door_001.jpg In this one there is more de...

8.9 'quake. Incredible. The major cities have stood up well to it, being designed to cope, but that Tsunami... jeepers. Imagine what might have happened had it enveloped the nuclear power plant - hope they can prevent a true melt down... :( Everyone knew the risk of having so many reactors on the co...
