Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
It’s only taken 4 year's and I finally managed to talk Cath into getting the wheels refurbished on her 1996 F and we are both very happy with the results. W1.jpg W2.jpg W3.jpg W3.jpg We used a local place https://www.google.co.uk/url… for the refurb and also to supply two new Toyos for the front (th...

Re: Fuel Cap refurb....
Thanks Gary, I will have a little play with it as it has bugged me since I got the car :thumbsu: No problem, its been about 3 years since i did the ring on Cath's F. I spent a bit of time trying to unscrew the Allen key bolts and as usual though they where like every other bolt on a F/TF .............

Re: Fuel Cap refurb....
When you re-fit the cap onto the car you should see a couple of screws , one each side of the filler pipe. If you loosen these a touch you can center the cap in the hole. Then take the cap off and re-tighten

Re: Fuel Cap refurb....
in a word yes :-) First remove the Allen key thingy's. These are not threaded, you need to kind of tilt the Allen key so when you twist you can pull at the same time, if you get what i mean. With them out you should be able yo remove the black plastic ring behind the matel face. if its a bit stiff p...

It came rolled up so I put it somewhere I could keep it flat. Now our house is not what you would call large, as you ...

Re: Rear Lamp Gaskets XFH100440
I have been told that by swapping the gaskets from one light to the other, which of course means the opposite side of the gasket fits against the light, extends the life of the gasket. I have not done this yet but it does seem plausible. I also brought some Neoprene from eBay with the intention of m...

Re: MGF Snorkel upgrade
How would someone get the box out if needing to put back after, remove the clutch pipe and or cylinder? Yep  Much easier to charge the Dremel :D Did you know you can get larger cutting wheels for the Dremel https://www.google.co.uk/aclk?sa=l&ai=C9JqIxd0TV6rDGcTmzAbC76rwCoTd-fcHxJLu3KEBoJaj3...

Re: Plastic rear screen
There are a few on eBay, when compared to Rimmer's £350+ are not a bad price ( I brought a complete hood with glass screen from Brown & Gammons for less).
I have brought them from Breakers for around £10-£20

Re: MGF Snorkel upgrade
Hi Andrew, yes, the upgrade is very worthwhile, have done it on my Wedgie last year. The biggest problem is getting the big box out, I had to cut it to remove it. But as it’s a good riddance, I didn’t really bother. When fitting the snorkel, forget about the original foam gasket it comes with, this...

Re: Rear window zipper broken
Un-clip the hood front and back first to release the tension.
You can pry open the sides of the metal closer ( i use a large flat end screwdriver) enough so it fits over the teeth. Go gently as the closer is only made of soft metal and may snap. Then close it using pliers

OK then it is very straight forward (see attached link).

I would recommend you get someone to give you a hand to lift the old hood off and lift the new one on.
Good Luck
