Re: MG HeritageFestival - Charity Road Run
Apparently James May and Richard Hammond have. They are doing the Royal Parade and attending the Gala Dinner doing their bit for charity.

Re: MG HeritageFestival - Charity Road Run
I still have had no 'official' response. Only the email referred to earlier which was in response to a direct "Am I in or out?" question. It is not that far away now and one would think that the list of the 300 was settled by now and details would be in the post to those drivers.

See you all there - I might have to bring some MGF Register umbrellas ! Possibly a shower or two but fingers crossed it will be as great as the last few days !
I have it on good authority that the 85th Anniversary model WILL be launched at Windsor and it's promising to be a bit special as well !

Re: MG HeritageFestival - Charity Road Run
Quote of the day ( at the time of being told that us MG people wouldn't be let through the gate untill 1.30pm which was the same time as the general public. Note we had paid £25 and the general public could get in the same time as us for £5)
11.30 am "My ******* 2 year old could of organised this better!" At which time a lot of people left and went home!

Re: MG Heritage Festival - Charity Road Run
What a great day out ! Over 600 MGs parked on the Long Walk, 250 more in Frogmore Parade Ground, the launch of the 85th Anniversary TF and the standard TF135 , Prince Phillip waving at all 250 MGS as they drove through Windsor Castle, eight runs in to Windsor, nice picnic on the Long Walk in the sunshine and a leisurely look at some really historic and interesting MGs.
The South East contingent went from Bocketts Farm at Leatherhead where a full house of 100 MGs gathered and then drove in ever decreasing circles around the North Downs amongst the spectacular (if slightly spooky) bluebell woods out to Guildford and then back across Surrey Heath until we arrived at the Great Park itself. To drive down the Long Walk from the Iron Horse with the Castle at the end was a fantastic experience in itself.
The 1.5 millionth TF was re commissioned especially for the event, it only needed a new battery and some fuel after four and a half years of not running, and was placed next to Prince Charles's MGCGT which we last saw at Sandringham on our East Anglia Charity Event last year.
This event has taken two years to plan and follows similar events in 2002 for Rolls Royce and 2005 for Aston Martin. The organisation was difficult with security being a strong influence, all the parade participants had to be security checked and their cars checked by sniffer dogs on the day of the event. All the stall holders and anyone at Frogmore itself whilst Prince Philip was there had to be security checked as well hence the non security checked people weren't allowed in until 1.30pm. All credit to the Windsor Rotary and MGOC for getting this off the ground and the marshalls on the day for getting everyone sorted out. Excellent route plan and clear instrucions helped as well. Nice enamel car badge and a souvenir brochure part of the "basic" package rounded the day off nicely.
The Queens Jubilee Special Edition also the 1.5millionth MG ever made made a very rare public appearance
The 85th Anniversary Model in Intense Cassis
Some of the South Easters parked up on the Long Walk

Re: MG HeritageFestival - Charity Road Run
I have to agree Tim, it was a truly memorable day and the organisation was fantastic. The logistics behind getting this to be the success it was, with all the security implications were immense.
A big congratulations to all those involved.

Re: MG HeritageFestival - Charity Road Run
after discussing with the MGOC the farse of what happened on the gate before 1pm, I recieved a £10 refund from the MGOC today (note the charity still got the £25,its the MGOC that partially refunded me). I phoned them on tuesday as that's what the MGOC people told me to do on Saturday.
