MG HeritageFestival - Charity Road Run

Post by TimM » Mon Jan 26, 2009 4:34 pm

You've probably had the circulation from Doug about the Charity Road Run to Windsor for the MG Heritage Festival.

If not then there is a link to the application form H E R E

It takes place on Saturday 25th April and will run from Bocketts Farm, Leatherhead to Windsor with parking either side of the Long Walk right in front of Windsor Castle. There will be a cavalcade of 300 pre chosen MGs through the town in the form of a "Royal Review" finishing at nearby Frogmore Parade Ground . The charity runs will all finish by driving through Windsor Great Park to the Long Walk. Over a thousand MGs are expected to take part so this will be a BIG event.

Entry fee is £25 which includes Route book, commemorative rally plate , grille badge and 52 page souvenir brochure.

Lets have a strong South East MGF presence !!

We've applied already and the forms aren't officially out yet !

I should say the TF Colin but I think it should probably be the N !

Is something advertised on the 24th John ? I'm aware there is a gala dinner being organised so that could be it ?

Looks like a spectacular event and one not to be missed for the South East.

Hi Tim Again!
The 24th is mentioned in the 'basic' advert sent in adobe format by 'Doug' it clearly states Friday 24th & Saturday 25th April 2009, and taking the first paragraph 'The MG Owners Club has been invited by the Rotary Club of Windsor and Eton to spearhead a weekend ;) of activities.
but looking through the advert again I still can not see what the 24th is about?

I hope everyone has booked in for this event which is looking pretty huge !!

I spoke to the MGOC at Stoneleigh and the Leatherhead Bocketts Farm start point is nearly booked up (100 cars) so you'd better be quick if you want to get in on this unique opportunity.

Has anyone had a reply back to say if they got into the event yet?

According to the official flyer the 24th is Drinks Reception and Dinner Jazz Buffet for those staying overnight in Windsor. There is a Gala Dinner on 25th for those staying that night as well. The cars are only involved on the 25th.

We have been selected for the Parade in the Y but still not officially advised, I only found out by asking whether I should put my name down for one of the other runs.

One would expect that if the list of the 300 Parade cars has been finalised that the owners would be advised ...

We've also applied for the Royal Parade. I got an email confirming receipt of my application and cheque which stated that instructions, details and rally pack would be sent 14 days prior to the event. I'm taking this as confirmation that we're in. From initial inquiry to receipt of confirmation email the whole process took around a week which taking into account postal time was quite fast I thought.

I'm guessing those of you who haven't heard anything will find out soon. I assume they'll post out all the details in a single go once they have final numbers. If you are concerned get in touch with the organisers. They were very helpful with my inquiry.
