Anyone for a Goodwood Breakfast....?

Post by muddybear » Tue Oct 13, 2009 4:02 pm

Hi all,

Anyone for meeting up, for a run out soon ?

I dropped in to The Goodwood motor racing circuit back in the summer for one of their
"Breakfast club meetings" and had a really great time. You get complete track and paddock access, to get up close and personnel to the exhits of the day, with out things being ropped off or behind glass out of view, and the best thing of all it that you just turn up and wander in, yep its completey free to get in ! It was super car sunday when i dropped in, and the place was alive with millionares playthings. Also you can catch John's ( sparky 135 ) review on the south coast pages. This time the theme is cutom and modified....

http://www.goodwood.com/breakfastclub

And then of course there's the full english, seated in the main pit garages for a very resonable £3.95 to meet and ponder on life, then afterwards you can work it off with a track tour again at a very resonable £ 2.00 a go,

It all kicks off from 8 am on Sunday 1st Nov, then a good country pub for a sunday lunch could fit the bill for a meet afterwards ?

catch you soon

Andy

I've put a thread in the South Coast Forum as discussed to try to drum up some interest. I'll probably be there anyway as it's usually a good morning out.

If you are looking for somewhere local for lunch afterwards I can recommend the Selsey Arms at West Dean. Went there after the Breakfast Club last month and was very impressed. You'll need to book quite early though as it's a very popular venue at Sunday Lunchtime.

Won't we be having breakfast at Goodwood ?

Probably won't go on for lunch as we've got the Winter Warmer Run the following weekend and wouldn't want to draw the excitement form that one as Graham is beavering away at it at this very moment !

Anyone suggest a place to meet up not too far away so we can trundle in together ?

The full "organic" sit down breakfast is £12+ per head.

Bacon/sausage/egg rolls can be had for the usual £4 - £5 but it's hardly what I'd call a meal.

Just thought I'd throw the suggestion of the Selsey Arms out there as a possible option. :thumbsu:

Thanks for the invite to the Winter Warmer Run, Tim. I'll let the rest of the SCRR's know. :thumbsu:

Regarding the Breakfast Club - depending on where the start point is and the route you are taking I'll either meet you en route or see you there. :thumbsu:

I had a drive around the area this morning, and stumbled across a small piture postcard village East Dean in the foot of the downs that is an ideal meeting point from most directions. It has a couple of noticable land marks in the form of a pub (the Star and Garter ) and the village green, and is around 2 miles from Goodwood, or of course you can't make your own way there if you can find it...

the post code address for you sat navers is East Dean, Chichester, West Sussex, PO18 0JG @ around 07:30 - 08:00 to be at Goodwood around 08:30

Hey Adz - you realise that this is eaaaarly !!

Must admit that it wil be a bit of a struggle for me as well- but in the face of adversity a bacon sarnie and a mug of hot tea is always a welcome relief !

I reckon we aim for East Dean at 0830 to allow a slightly later get up time - is there a parking place Muddy ?

That means we'll have to leave the comfort of the Home Counties about 0715 !!

Do the northerners want to meet anywhere earlier than that - Milford perhaps ?

Mwha if you can find it

But never the less plan B:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=51.17368, ... 15986&z=16

Would be the Esso garage in Milford.

Any clues on what time to get there for? Google thinks around 48 minutes to get there from milford think myself and Damien have done it quicker :)

on another note anybody fancy a drive down to brighton after breakfast as the london-brighton vintage run is on the 1st and should start ariving from about 9.55am at Preston Park in Brighton this is followed by a final section into Madeira Drive, Brighton for a 10:00am first arrival.

08:30 is fine, to meet, we will still be on the circuit by 09:00 ready for that bacon.....

There is no real parking as such at East Dean, but the village center by the pub is fairly small so we won't miss anyone. Just park up and start kicking tyres .

East Dean is the other side from that which we will be approaching so we will go straight there and meet you at the event.

We usually get there for just before 08:00 to beat the queues and park on the circuit car park.

Do we want to arrange a meet up time inside Goodwood?

Malcolm said he may also come from the South Coast. I'm guessing he'll go straight there as well.

There will be around 200 to 300 cars on display to look at. The theme for this month is "Souped Up Sunday - Modified and Custom Vehicles of all ages" so there should be some weird and wonderful stuff on show.

If you've never been to the Breakfast Club before more information can be found here. :thumbsu:

I'm guessing getting to Brighton for 10:00 might be a bit ambitious.

Meeting at the garage in Milford just before the lights at 0730 !!! for those coming from the north

Should get us down to East Dean by 0815 - 0830 ish - meeting Andy, Marty & John there ?

Hampshire lot will go straight to Goodwood.

Reckon we''ll be at Goodwood for about 0845 - 0900.

Brighton may well be a tad tricky on those timescales - at least we shouldn't be stuck behind a queue of pre 07 cars !
