NEW YEAR TULIP RALLY - Jan 6th
Ralph is organising a New Years Tulip rally to shake off the Xmas and New Year festivities and what better way than a couple of hours out in the Kent countryside following Tulip diagrams and looking for the odd Treasure Hunt Clue on the way finishing up with the chance of another lunch just to round the festive season off nicely.
Starting at Executive Motor Services the route will wind its way across Kent to the South Coast where we'll be able to have a pint of fine ale and a roast dinner - sounds good to me .
The start will be at
Executive Motoring Services
2 Horsham Lane
Upchurch
Kent
ME9 7AL
....and the finish at mystery destination on the South Kent Coast.
Sounds like a good way to start the SEF 2008 season off ...so who's up for it then ? (Approx numbers help when booking the table at the finish point)

We will be meeting up from around 10am and then leaving as and when, to get to the destination for lunch.
BTW Paul, I have your trumpet in my desk drawer.

Just of a moment I thought you all were comming over to Holland to enjoy the real Tulip Rally. you would only be a bit early
As you should know this was the original event where the symbols were introduced. But the event is still on the international rally calendar

Re: NEW YEAR TULIP RALLY - Jan 6th
We have just rung the pub that we were going to use as the destination - they've got a problem in their kitchens and won't be able to provide hot meals. So..... we've had to change the final destination. Roast dinner and alcohol will be available, but we haven't checked the pub out yet.

Re: NEW YEAR TULIP RALLY - Jan 6th
Subject to the weather not being rubbish, I might take a long trip round the M25.
I've had the battery replaced in the F so hopefully it will start (unlike the last time I tried to get to a SEF Event).
Cheers,
Neil.

All being well I should be there, although I've got the hardtop on at the moment and can't see me getting it off in the morning so it'll be top-up motoring for me I'm afraid!

Well, it was good to see you all 'at the off', sorry we couldn't make the run this time.
So, how did it all go? Any pics? The weather was glorious, wasn't it? Even Graham had his top off!

I would like to say a big thank you to all those that turned up. Everyone that started off managed to turn up at the destination despite the error in the instructions

Yes - lovely day for going topless in the middle of winter with the sun shining and the mud spraying under the wheels ! Got a little damp on the way home but managed all the way from Folkestone to Addlestone with the top down and kept up with Neil all the way !
Thanks a lot for organising this early season blast Ralph - great fun.
Pics will follow shortly (ish)

Flippin' heck - did it again! I need to visit these boards more often, otherwise I only hear of the event after it's happened.
Hope you all had a good time *jealous*

Yes a great run, unfortunately I did have to put the top up as I got caught in heavy rain on my way back but otherwise a great day and you wouldn't have thought it was January!
