Here are the details below that Ralph has posted up on one of the other forums ;)

Lydden Hill Track Day 21st March

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As has been previously mentioned, Jim (BHB) and I are going to do a track day at Lydden Hill on 21st March. This track day has no noise limit!

Details are as follows:

Lydden Hill Track Day - Friday 21st March 2008

The address is

Lydden Hill Race Circuit
Wootton,
Canterbury,
Kent
CT4 6RX

Track days give you the opportunity to drive your car quickly away from the road and oncoming traffic and speed cameras. There is an ever-growing army of enthusiasts who take part in track days on race circuits and airfields.

The days are sociable, low pressure, non-competitive and open to almost any type of car. Race circuits are safe places to be doing this type of activity, but there are risks involved and you must accept those risks. Accidents are rare but can happen and are almost always down to driver error or component failure.

Two instructors are available on this track day. One instruction slot is allowed per driver and this is included in cost of the day.

Requirements:

Car. This must be safe for the day (brakes, suspension, tyres, steering etc) and be in good working order. The car must have a current MOT certificate, if applicable, and be capable of being legally driven to the track. Before taking your car out on track it is your responsibility to check your vehicle over for safety and mechanical reliability. Any doubts should be rectified before going out on track, as the car will be used a lot harder than normal.

Driving license. A full current driving license (including paper section if you have a photo id license) must be available for inspection.

Helmet. Either open or closed, motorcycle or motorsport. These are NOT available for hire on the day.

Clothing. Drivers arms and legs must be covered on the day. You should wear sensible foot wear, e.g. race boots or trainers.

Passengers. No passengers, except the instructor, are allowed in the car for this track day.
.
Noise. There are NO noise limits on the track day, as race cars will be present on the day in one of the sessions.

Fuel. No fuel is available on site. The nearest petrol stations are over 1 mile from the track, on the A2. We expect that drivers of ZS180s will use a full tank of fuel in the course of this event.

Advisories:

Remove all 'loose' clutter from the car, including in the boot

Check all fluid levels on the car before going on track

Check that your wheel nuts are tight and that the tyre pressures are appropriate for the event

Bring any top up bottles of oil, coolant and the like on the day just in case

Bring a footpump and tyre pressure gauge if you have one

DO NOT put the handbrake on after finishing your session, leave it in gear (1st/Reverse)

It is advisable to either leave the engine running or lift the bonnet after finishing your session to allow the air to circulate in the engine bay.

Bring a weather proof sheet to protect your possessions, as no pit garages are available.

In car photography may be permitted at the discretion of the organisers.

The day:

This event costs just £130 for a full day of action which consists of eight sessions (time/weather/light permitting). There will be 4 sessions in the morning and 4 in the afternoon, allowing time for any recoveries after each session. Professional instruction is included in the price, with one male and one female instructor available on the day.

Each additional driver for your car is £10. Each driver must present their paper driving license during sign on and must drive in the same session as the main named driver.

Only official Lydden Race Circuit Instructors are permitted as passengers out on track. If you wish, you can have an instructor to drive you around the circuit in your car instead of being a passenger. The instructors will also be happy to freely advise on car set up if you have adjustable parts on your car.

Personal Accident Insurance is not available at the circuit so if you wish to have this it will have to be pre-arranged by yourself. Your normal car insurance will not cover you on this event unless you have track day cover specified in your policy. No liability will fall on any other party for damage to you or your car during the course of this event.

There is a 23 car limit on track to each group session. Normally there will be a lot less than 23 cars on track, allowing plenty of room to drive at your own pace.

Hot/cold food and drinks should be available to be purchased on the day but it is advisable to bring your own. Please bear in mind that if it is a hot day you may drink more than normal.

Above all, this is a track day, not a race. Drive at the speed that you are comfortable at – don't worry that other people may be going around the track faster than you. They may just have better tyres, suspension or brakes. Have fun!

Jim
