Elan Valley Devils Bridge weekend 31-3-12

Post by GeoffW » Tue Sep 27, 2011 9:33 pm

I have decided to do the wales trip next spring and make a weekend of it,its the weekend after the clocks change so more light :D the plan is to go early saturday 31st of March meeting at the Shell garage just off the M5 Stroud Junction, meet time 9.15 leaving 9.30 We will be staying at the Hafod Hotel Devils Bridge http://www.thehafodhotel.co.uk/
The plan is to travel up to Rhayader mid wales and visit the Elan valley Dams and visitor centre which is open, there grab a bite to eat and a mosey around the exhibition then head for the hills and explore the Dams, one of which you actually drive over :thumbsu: Remember to take a camera as the views are amazing, Just like the roads :)
Then on to the hotel via the Aberystwyth mountain road which has stunning views http://www.stayinwales.co.uk/wales_picture.cfm?p=2218
At the hotel there is the famous Devils bridge where you can walk down and view the bridges and water falls
The Hotel does bar meals in the pub or Restaurant meals if you wish, although as there will hopefully be a few of
us then we could have the bar meals togther in the huge Restaurant which also has a pool table in it
Before you ask Colin, yes they do real ales, 2 from memory :thumbsu:
On the Sunday Take a leisurely Breakfast at the hotel and head for Aberystwyth which is on the coast, have a wander and then head home stopping somewhere for refreshment mid route
One thing you will notice is the lack of traffic around this area especially on a sunday morning.
I know this is a long way off but it gives us the chance to book time off ahead plus the hotel is free at the moment
they have 9 double rooms,5 twin , 1 tripple and can do singles .
Rather than me do the booking where people say they will go then pull out its best if you contact the hotel direct
01970890232
When you ring up mention the MG Club Trip organised by Geoff Wakefield and they will do this years prices,
any thing Ive missed let me know, sorry if Ive missed anything out , I have provisionaly booked 3 doubles 1 twin & single just in case a shooting party wants to stay , Please add name to list if interested, dont really care how many just depends on rooms available
Copy and paste with your name ,so see you there :D

Colin has advised me to limit this event to 10 cars as MSA approval will be needed ect ect plus from a practical point
of view makes sense

Hi Geoff,

I had a phone call from the hotel today to confirm numbers as for some strange reason they thought I'd arranged this

I confirmed yours and mine booking but they asked about a Mr Smith - can you give them a call please to confirm? :thumbsu:

See you Saturday morning, I'm cleaning the car tomorrow!!
