Run to the Dog House - 7th December

Post by TimM » Thu Nov 06, 2008 2:16 pm

I wasn't sure if we were going to be able to do this again this year but I've now had confirmation that we can go ahead with another Run to the Dog House on sunday morning arriving in time to join the queue for your sunday carvery, fun and frolics at the Xmas Awards Lunch.

The run will begin again in the Market Square at Abgindon and head out using some of the old MG test routes - Once more we can provide this at no cost so just turn up by 10am and join the other F/TFs in the centre of Abgindon ready for the off.

It would help us if we have some idea of how many will be taking part for route plans to be printed....so another list I'm afraid ! :D

Now there's usually a lot more than that joining in on the sunday morning run....so get your names down ....at this rate we'll only be printing six route books and Richard's gone to a lot of trouble to get the square opened up and sort out the route ...don't forget you can also see the latest exhibits in the MG Museum !!

Change of circumstances I'm afraid...

Great run today - really enjoyed it. Thanks for organising it :thumbsu:

Was a bracing day but with that sun out, was a good run with the roof down - well for some of us anyway :D  (never seen so many hard tops in one place! :o )

True Keith, it was not even that cold, I didn't even need a wooly hat. I didn't know there was that many hardtops in the Club let alone fitted to cars :(

The road run was a bit icy in places, got sideways a couple of times.

Was a little slippy in places Adrian  especially on that right turn under the rail way bridge :o

The red F infront of me slipped a little but the look on the van drivers face coming in the opposite direction when my back end slipped into his lane was magic to see  Luckily it was under control.

At the T junction, exactly the same place, Kasper (who had traction control on the Alfa), watched in his mirror to see what happened as he felt his car kick before it responded. A little left hand lock and keep the power gentle corrected it no problem.

All this sniping at hard tops has to stop, I like my hard top....we were cosy, warm, quiet, (can't hear the VVc gear wirring around) and secure..learn to love a hard top, I know I have!!!

Just say: Love hard tops, love hard tops, love hard tops.........

But not in summer. No thanks!

I was cosy and warm, I don't do quiet though :P

Hard tops, like marmite, you either love them or hate them. I know what camp I'm in Dave :) .

Just something to add here.....

When in UK years ago We worked three jobs for a spell and bought a brand new MG B ,just had enough cash left for a 'Bermuda' hard top. (twin glass skylights) On arrival in NZ we could have sold it for nearly the same price as we paid for the car. It looked that good.

The reason for this one on the 'F' (bought in NZ and shipped with the car) was mainly for security as we would be living in a pretty poor area for a spell on arrival and protection during shipping.

Maybe, just maybe, it is comfort seeking now, as I can recall going to noggins here in the UK in the 'B' with the hood down in Winter, I can still remember how cold it was.

It came to good use in the last Wales journey with so much rain. Anyway, thats my story and I am sticking to it.......Further comment invited(I can take It)
