3rd Pride of Longbridge Rally - Saturday 12th April 2008
Saturday 12th April 2008 Pride of Longbridge Rally 3

The Pride of Longbridge Rally remembers all those workers made redundant at Longbridge on 15th April 2005 as the administrators reduced the workforce from 6,500 to a couple of hundred. Arrangements are well underway organising the Pride of Longbridge rally on 12th April 2008, the nearest Saturday to the anniversary of the Longbridge workforce being made redundant on 15th April 2005.
For the third year RCAT (The Rover Community Action Trust) are organising the ‘POL’ Rally to make sure that the good work at Longbridge is not forgotten. We hope that you, and your club members, will join us.

The rally will commence again at Hopwood Park Services at Junction 2 on the M42, followed, as in previous years, by a run past the old factory site allowing us to see the ever-changing face of the factory site and pay our respects.

We hope that the rally will encourage you to being out your Austin and Longbridge built cars and those who worked at the Factory will join us to see the products they built.

We will depart from Hopwood Park Services at 11:30 am on 12th April for Cofton Park where we will gather opposite the factory. All being well there well there will be caters on site to feed us this year!

Hope to see you there!

We're hoping those arrangements are correct but I am still waiting for confirmation from the Austin Federation and the Rover Community Action Trust as there was some doubt over the Hopwood start point. Please keep an eye out on this forum for confirmation soon.

Confirmation has now been received that the start point will be Hopwood Services as predicted above. I'll post the message from out affiliate organisation ,the Austin Fedration , here as there may be some new people who might not be aware of what it's all about.....note the slight time change .....

We have just had it confirmed within the last 24hrs that we will meet at Hopwwod at 10am on the 12th July and depart for Cofton Park at 11am where we gather right opposite the factory itself. All being well there will be caterers on site to feed us this year !

We hope to see you there" Tony Osborne (Austin Federation)

A week to go to this one - it will be nice to have a good F/TF turnout and show support - I wonder if we'll get any visitors from across the road this year ?

Well I'm going to try and make this one, haven't driven the F since before Izzy was born (getting on for 2 months now) and I'm being to get severe withdrawal symptoms. A nice long drive to Bham and back is just what the doc ordered. Now just have to hope the wife and 2 kids let me out for the day!

D'oh... After all that, I forgot to bring my flag back! :o

Tim, I assume you've taken it with the other one. We can organise something for when the gazebos are done. :? 8-)

Excellent pictures Adrian - particularly liked the 'in motion' ones of Steve Tylers ZS.

Mind if I download some of them?

Dave, I have over 20 of those all taken at high speed, I selected just those few. By all means, help yourself, if you follow the link to "go to main album" you can get them from there.

Adrian, Great photos, might be an idea through the year to photo as many MGF number plates as can be found, could be good for next years calender.
Just a MAD thought.
