Forum Looks Different

Post by James Curgenven » Sun Sep 27, 2015 7:21 pm

Don't panic!

As part of the problems we've been having with the website I wanted to make sure that all the software we run is up to the latest versions to make sure security holes etc are all plugged.

This means that I have updated the forum version, and currently the style is slightly different to what we had before, don't worry, in the coming days I am going through it all and seeing if it can be put back to how we had it previously (or very close)

Thank you for your patience in this.

James

For the new posts and more click on the 'Quick links' in the top left, just under the logo, and you will then get to choose from;

Your posts
New posts
Unread posts
Unanswered post

... and more

Thanks for the info, would still be nice to have the button at the top of the screen.

Tbh, after some playing with the “new” design, I quite like it! Especially as the new and unread posts are now available from everywhere through the quick links button. No need to go back to the main index page.

Any other iphone users finding the new look not very user friendly?

The old version was fine but this version won't show who updated the last thread and when in either the homepage view or the new posts view?

Is ok on iPad though and all other forums work normally on my iphone

its ok on my ipdad to Mykel, but its teh IPhone that I carry around with me 8-)

If other forums were affected the same way i would think it was due to the IPhone, but they are not, so I concluded its as a result of this forum change 8-)

I have now tried it on the iPhone and imho it looks quite tidy:
IMG_8936.jpg
IMG_8939.jpg
IMG_8937.jpg
IMG_8938.jpg
This is almost better than tapatalk. :thumbsu: But I see your point Col, even in the “unread posts” section one always only sees who started the thread and when. Maybe the info displayed in the smaller space available in the mobile layout can be changed to show the latest post, not the first? James??

Oh, and the image upload function is a LOT better now as well

Danke Mykel

Your view shown of the unread posts is the same as I get in the New Posts and in the main general view it doesn't show who updated the latest thread in each section and when

Let's hope James can work some magic :)

It fits my tablet much better than the old style. To get the 'full' width with all the columns showing though, I do need to turn the tablet through 90 degrees and you get the standard full page width showing OK. Might be worth a try on the iPhone.
