Post by Worzel » Sat Aug 06, 2016 6:33 pm

New MGF Register Event for 2017 - Jersey - 1st to 5th June

It’s with pleasure to notify yourselves of a new event for the MGF Register in 2017 – a 5 Day, four night trip to Jersey to take in the Jersey international Festival Of Motoring and also a couple of days driving around the stunning island. Please find attached the Flyer for the event.

We the Thames Valley Region will be the host region, but the well-established tour company Scenic & Continental Car Tours will be dealing with all of the travel arrangements, bookings, payments and administration including all ferry confirmations, ticketing, sending out Tour Packs etc., and this gives full safeguard against any financial issues etc. to all participants giving the ultimate in protection.

There will be other Marques taking part in the weekend too, so will be a good, fun and definitely friendly holiday.
I can personally testify how good Scenic & Continental are, as myself and Angie has this year taken part in there Clasique Historique tour with over 550 cars leaving the UK!

This long weekend books out very quickly, and they have reserved 10 rooms for us at present, for a time limit period of one month. Decisions will need to be made quickly to reserve place.
Deposits of £100 per person is required at time of booking. Booking is by telephone 01732 879153 and quote “MGF Register”.

The Itinery is as follows:

DAY 1 - Condor Ferries high-speed ferry crossing from Poole to Jersey. After disembarkation you'll make the short drive to your hotel with the remainder of the afternoon and evening at leisure.

DAY 2 - Enjoy the International Festival of Motoring schedule of events
OR - Explore some of the Island’s attractions on our West Island Tour
Mileage: approx. 28 miles

DAY 3 - Enjoy the International Festival of Motoring schedule of events
OR - Explore the shops and attractions on the Island

DAY 4 - Enjoy the International Festival of Motoring schedule of events
OR - Explore some of the Island’s attractions on our East Island Tour
Mileage 24 miles.

DAY 5 - Check-out from the hotel is 11h00 , followed by the day at leisure in Jersey. Please be sure to check -in for your return ferry crossing no later than one hour prior to your sailing time.
Back to main tour page Dates, Prices & Ferry Times.

If you have any questions etc., please do not hesitate to contact me and I’ll happily discuss further.

JERSEY 2017 Update

Places are booking up nicely by fellow Register members, but Scenic & Continental are advising that following NEC Classic Car Show and before Christmas, this weekend usually sells out!

Don't miss out - get booked as soon as you can.

Good afternoon,

My wife Jan and I have booked for the Jersey trip and are looking forward to meeting you all.
Our MG Social life although we are members of the MGCC is mainly spent with the Gloucestershire MGOC as they have regular monthly meetings that we enjoy and a run for each of the 6 warmer months with members taking turns to arrange the run, produce the tulip diagrams and organise a suitable eatery/hostelry for the finish. Our annual fundraising run is the "Cotswold Caper" an enterprise that raises around £5000 for our nominated local charity.
We live in Witney a part of the Thames Valley and will try to get to some of the local events.
We have a 1999 MG 120 Stepspeed in Nightfire Red, originally registered to MG/Rover and used by a young BMW Lawyer who was based at Gaydon and the F was regularly inspected in the R&D workshops there to evaluate the Steptronic gearbox, renamed in the post BMW days as a Stepspeed.
Gethin.

Hi Gethin

We look forward to meeting yourself and Jan, and looking forward to a fun 5 days, hopefully in the sun! We have 10 rooms booked, so good company.
In my book, as long as it's an interest in MG's, that's all that matters :thumbsu:

Please do though, feel free to pop over to any of our natters or runs etc, everyone is more than welcome.

Only 3 1/2 months to go

Hi Ian,

Thanks for your welcome and interesting comments.
I take it that you take the view, very much like most enthusiasts that automatics are not real sports cars.
I tend to agree, but it aint half magic for oldies with knee replacements and to rub it in it has even got air conditioning!
If I had any PC tendencies I am sure that I would be "offended" like some professional moaners.
I am not offended just flying the flag for the limited numbers of Steptronic/Stepspeed owners.
Should be a good time in Jersey and look forward to more Banter.
Best regards,
Gethin.

Oh blimey Gethin, I was not intending to be offensive, far from it! And certainly no thoughts against automatics (my wife's car is one due to her hip replacement). I went to purchase a step speed myself and it was only the fact that there was no coolant in the system, and the forecourt owner told me they were supposed to be like that, that I didn't buy it!
I was commenting on the MGCC v MCOC snobbery that I've sometimes sadly encountered and was meaning that it doesn't matter who you enjoy your driving with, as long as you enjoy it!
Hope that helps to clear that and apologies if my response did not come across as I meant it to?

Hi Ian,

No offense taken! I am getting to the stage
(well for about the last 60 years) where I enjoy a bit of banter.
I would never have thought that I would enjoy a automatic so much, but I do.
Like I said just flying the flag.
You should have screwed the dealer down on price and had the HG replaced and enjoyed "luxury" motoring and then your wife could have driven it as well, or was that why you found an excuse not to buy it?????? No reply needed my tongue is in my cheek.
Best regards,
Gethin.
