2016 MGF Register Photo Competition

Yes it really is that time of year again when we launch our annual photo competition in the run up to Christmas. Simply because the MGF Register calendar makes a great Christmas present for the F/TF enthusiast and you never know your entry might be a winner and actually be in it!

The rules are pretty simple - submit up to three of your best pics from the last 12 months that contain something to do with an MGF or TF - might be a bit of the car or a full portrait or a group shot - anything really as long as there is an F/TF in it. They need to be in reasonable quality as well (over 1mb) as if they win they will be printed A4 size on the calendar, in FasTForward and possibly Safety Fast.

We don't like outlandish photo-shopped stuff so no garish colours or tone changes that we need to put our sunglasses on and no whimsical layers of cars in outer space - if you do send them in then I'm sure we'll have a good laugh at them but they won't be counted! People will be hanging the calendar on their walls so bear that in mind when submitting your entries.

Cropping, tone adjustment, white balance etc is fine and is encouraged to improve the overall appearance of your picture.

The top 12 in the opinion of our team of judges and our overcomplicated scoring system will feature in the calendar and the overall winner will win the coveted MGF Register Photographic cup for a year. Your name will join those of past winners on the base.

All the pictures will be on public view in an online gallery and I'll put a link here once we get a few entries in.

So last thing - the closing date is midnight on 19th November so you've got a few weeks to sort out your cherished masterpieces and send them to me at tim.morris@mgfregister.org

Just a reminder ....
If any photographs entered for the competition are not emailed in via tim.morris@mgfregister.org or scribe@mgfregister.org they will not be entered into the competition. Only emailed photos will be accepted.

The first batch of entries have been accepted and are now in a Flickr album.

Just to reiterate what has been said above - we cannot accept entries posted on social media. The competition is such that the winning photos will be published and printed both in a calendar and in magazines so they need to be of good resolution - the calendar is an A4 size photo so a 50k picture is not going to expand to that size. Pics need to be at least 1mb if possible. Facebook reduces the size and quality of pictures to a very low level when posted on there - so if you send them from your phone please use your email app.

Send your pics to one of the above email addresses - if you don't get an acknowledgment within a few days then PM me here and I'll send another email address.

Reminder of rules:
1) Email up to 3 photos only
2) Must have something to do with an F or TF in the pic
3) Medium to high res please (1mb or over)
4) No outlandish photoshops (cropping, tone adjustment etc is OK)
5) Please give your full name on the entry email.
6) Pics must be your own work and taken in the last 12 months (doesn't have to be your own car though!)

The competition is hotting up now and we have over 100 entries - have you sent yours in? All the rules are as above.

Vodafone are doing away with the "free" demon email, although I pay Demon £12 for email and have done for 20years.

It's the last two weeks of the competition so now is the time to get those last minute entries in.

I've been storing up some entries to upload as I've been busy finishing FasTForward off. So now nearly 50 new pictures have been added to the competition album here: COMPETITION
