FREEDOM OF SCOTLAND WEEKEND - 25th - 27th SEPTEMBER 2009
You may have read in the Scotland section that Dave & Gerry have passed on the mantle of our annual Scottish event, the Highlander, and we thank them for their hard work on that event over the last few years.
However we are pleased to announce that Alan Dunlop (our new Scotland rep) has picked up that mantle and there will be a weekend event in Scotland BUT there is a difference in that it has a new name to reflect a new outlook and a chance to roam different parts of the country.
So welcome to the......
The 2009 event will be based in the lovely market town of Peebles at the Tontine Hotel in the Scottish Borders country and a special rate of £55 per person has been negotiated for dinner, bed and breakfast. You'll need to act fairly quickly though as rooms have only been reserved for the next few weeks hence the early notification of this new event. To enjoy the whole weekend you'll need to book for all three nights (Fri, Sat & Sun)
There will be organised runs out on both the Saturday and Sunday and a shorter run to a dispersal point on the Monday morning.
You'll need to book the hotel yourself by ringing 01721 720892 (ask for Susan).
You'll also need to send a registration/admin fee of £15 per car (£18 non MGCC members) to the club by sending an application form to us which is available H E R E .
Any queries contact our Scotland rep Alan Dunlop on 07860 198174 or via the forum.
Further details will appear here and on the MGFreedom website
For more details on the hotel go to http://www.tontinehotel.com

As Tim says, early booking is important. This is a relatively small hotel but comes highly recommended. We have asked that they hold a number of rooms open for us until the end of October. Almost one third of the rooms we requested are already booked for this event so get your skates on! If we do happen to exceed this number, I will seek additional accomodation nearby.
Cheers
Alan

Don't forget that to be sure of getting rooms at the hotel you need to book very soon as the reserve period will finish very shortly ....

I've just checked and booked a couple of double rooms for myself and there are still a few rooms spare so if you are quick you might still be able to book in to the Tontine at the special rate of £55 pp for dinner, bed & breakfast.

Hi Just booked my room, and sent the registration form off!, booked for 'two' but not sure who will be coming with me, could be Don my son, or Yvonne, any chance of meeting up with someone from the SE Fers' for the journey?
See you soon, and looking forward to the long weekend.

Almost certainly, John! We had a nice ensemble run up to Stirling back in the spring of last year.... http://www.mgcars.org/runnymede-mgoc/mg ... nder08.htmjohnyogi wrote:...any chance of meeting up with someone from the SE Fers' for the journey?

I'm not sure if there are any rooms at the Tontine still but it may be worth a try if you want to join us on this Scottish weekender as a couple of people have dropped out.
Don't forget that if you have already booked in to the Hotel then you need to send us the event registration fee as it's just over a month away now.

Valerie & John have just booked in so looks like there are rooms available. They'll be adding to the South East Contingent vying for the furthest travelled award !
